Yet another Republican U.S. senator has caught former President Donald Trump's eye as he searches for a ticketmate to replace former Vice President Mike Pence.
The New York Times reported Friday that Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton has jumped to the top of Trump's list.
The 47-year-old Arkansas Republican was elected to the Senate in 2014 after serving tours in Iraq and Afghanistan with the U.S. Army.
The pick of Cotton would be unexpected because it would be bland.
Cotton joins other veepstakes contenders from the upper chamber including Sens. Marco Rubio, Tim Scott and J.D. Vance.
The presumptive Republican nominee is also considering North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, who he brought to his recent mega-rally in Wildwood, New Jersey.
..
During an interview Thursday with News 12 Trump declined to name his top three VP picks.
'Well, we have so many, I don't want to do that,' the ex-president said after his rally in the Bronx.
Trump then commended Dr. Ben Carson, his former HUD secretary, Rubio, Vance and Rep. Elise Stefanik.
The ex-president said he would announce his choice 'sometime during the convention.'
The Republican National Convention is scheduled for mid-July in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Trump also has a number of former 2024 rivals at his disposal.
His chief rival, former U.N. Amb. Nikki Haley, finally said this week that she would vote for Trump in the November election.
Trump supporters interviewed by DailyMail.com in New Jersey liked the idea of the ex-president picking Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, another chief challenger.
DeSantis said months ago he wouldn't take the promotion - though more recently has started fundraising for Trump.
Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy is also a favorite with the MAGA crowd - and at 38-years-old would bring youth to the ticket.

He was my preference for president so I’m good with it.
Horribly poor, missing dad, absentee mother who basically ignored and disliked him when she was not so zoned out on drugs to beat him up. In and out of his wonderful grandma’s house,in same poverty-stricken town where he found love and support. His book, Hillbilly Elegy and Netflix movie read and seen by millions including some people in hospital waiting room where I was reading his book.
Accomplished so much from that horrible background, has wonderful wife he met in law school and adorable little kids.
He appeals, I believe, to both rich and poor people. Wife is from India and their kids are slightly brownish, so a lot of minorities may find that a positive attribute.
That’s a lot of boxes checked.
Although your points are well taken, there are people that would consider voting for Trump if he picked a favorite of there’s as VP. For example, I know a guy that was a avid DeSantis supporter who would likely only get off his az and vote for Trump if he picked him as Veep.
Personally that’s just crazy in my mind but I think one might be surprised at how common people using criteria like that to make of their mind on a given candidate.
No! Warmonger!
I like Carson, but not as VP. Should Trump die in office, God Forbid, Carson does not, IMHO, have the strength to push back against RINO congresscrits, veto outrageous $$$$$ bills to support other countries, close the border and spend the bucks to deport illegals, which Trump said he will do.
Secretary of Health is appropriate place for Carson, who is an M.D.
Who does have the strength and huevos to do all that hard but difficult stuff? We need one tough hombre. I think Vance has the strength and there may be others. .
No he adds nothing to the ticket, only votes Trump will already get.
I agree—Trump’s VP must be a rough and tumble sort. A man who. like Trump, will not back down. Who? That’s the question. Someone who could take over if Trump can not finish the term or carry on MAGA when Trump’s second term ends. No George Bush types. Who? Rand Paul? Maybe a tough woman. Sarah Huckabee? Who do you think?
“The pick of Cotton would be unexpected because it would be bland.” Funny, I’ve never once thought of him as ‘bland.’
At this moment in time, I like J.D. Vance, senator from Ohio.
The really tough guy is Vivek Ramaswamy. There’s some disagreement about his eligibility to be president or VP because his parents were born in India. Vivek born here. He needs and will get a cabinet post. Is there a Secretary of something that handles the border?
Agree. Ramaswamy is one tough hombre. Or whatever the Indian equivalent to hombre is.
imho, if trump is not convicted by the new york jury then the next thing for the democrats to do is grant amnesty to illegals so they can vote in november.
what’s to stop biden from doing so?
My thought as well.
Have repeatedly said that Trump could work best with Burgum.
They seem cut from the same cloth.
I’d be disappointed if Trump doesn’t pick him and just goes for someone who supposedly brings in more votes. Trump himself will bring in all the votes he needs to win. This country needs solid businessmen to get its footing and rise to new heights.
He catches a lot go grief here.
I agree about Carson. Nice guy but he wouldn’t be good life insurance for Trump. At least he wouldn’t undermine him, but he’s not temperamentally equipped to take over.
“Bland”?????
The man is a Warrior.
We need all of those we can get right now
Ramaswamy talks tough. That doesn’t mean he is. I’ll give him credit for being a good public speaker, but so is Ted Cruz. Talk is easy. Unless voters start to look deeper, they’ll continue to be fooled by Con men.
Michael Flynn supports Vivek
I’ll take his advice. And I like Vivek.
I'm against women unless they're Golda Meir or Margaret Thatcher. They don't come around that often.
