Yet another Republican U.S. senator has caught former President Donald Trump's eye as he searches for a ticketmate to replace former Vice President Mike Pence.
The New York Times reported Friday that Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton has jumped to the top of Trump's list.
The 47-year-old Arkansas Republican was elected to the Senate in 2014 after serving tours in Iraq and Afghanistan with the U.S. Army.
The pick of Cotton would be unexpected because it would be bland.
Cotton joins other veepstakes contenders from the upper chamber including Sens. Marco Rubio, Tim Scott and J.D. Vance.
The presumptive Republican nominee is also considering North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, who he brought to his recent mega-rally in Wildwood, New Jersey.
..
During an interview Thursday with News 12 Trump declined to name his top three VP picks.
'Well, we have so many, I don't want to do that,' the ex-president said after his rally in the Bronx.
Trump then commended Dr. Ben Carson, his former HUD secretary, Rubio, Vance and Rep. Elise Stefanik.
The ex-president said he would announce his choice 'sometime during the convention.'
The Republican National Convention is scheduled for mid-July in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Trump also has a number of former 2024 rivals at his disposal.
His chief rival, former U.N. Amb. Nikki Haley, finally said this week that she would vote for Trump in the November election.
Trump supporters interviewed by DailyMail.com in New Jersey liked the idea of the ex-president picking Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, another chief challenger.
DeSantis said months ago he wouldn't take the promotion - though more recently has started fundraising for Trump.
Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy is also a favorite with the MAGA crowd - and at 38-years-old would bring youth to the ticket.

Agreed.
Yes. Cotton is a hero to Never-Trumpers. And there is probably a reason for that.
That sounds like Vivek Ramaswamy
Raise your hand if you dont realize Trump is just playing everyone. 🙄
Hoping for Doug Burgum
LOL !
As some Groyper said of Rishi Sunak: “He shouldn’t be Prime Minister of Britain because he is not White, and not a Christian.”
Trump is a man of peace. Why would he select Tom Cotton? A hard No on Tom Cotton.
I’m not voting for Cotton anymore than if Satan himself is on the ticket, because it’s essentially the same thing.
How about Michael Flynn? He went through hell for Trump. He is a proven loyalist. He has military experience, which is a bonus.
I don't know too much about Cotton, but the little I know - I concur with your assessment. He seems like a Big State supporter.
I honestly cannot imagine anyone deciding to vote for Trump based on whoever he picks as his VP.
IMHO Trump needs to make his decision based solely on (1) who would be qualified to become President if something were to happen to Trump, (2) who would be a legitimate conservative and not a RINO, and (3) who would be loyal and work with Trump to achieve the same conservative goals and not stab him in the back.
“How about Michael Flynn?”
General Flynn is the best choice in my opinion.
Sec Def, not VP
PRETTY SURE THAT VIVEK IS NOT NATURAL BORN CITIZEN
NO SENATORS!
Cotton is my Senator. I don’t pick Cotton. No to VP.
Good catch! Why does Trump keep gravitating towards deep staters?
I never said he was
Let's assume Trump wins. Every American city will riot. U.S. Congress will say that Donald Trump does not have legitimacy.
Trump’s flaw is to give too much credit to people who are deferential and flatter him.
Deep State / Swamp types have built their whole careers on flattering and ingratiating themselves with more powerful elements with the Regime. So they are good at flattery / sucking up.
And Trump falls for it.
