It really can’t be Rubio unless he or Trump changes their state of residence... due to the rule about no state’s electors being allowed to vote for 2 of their own residents for Pres/VP.
If he announced his VP choice now, that would give the LAAP-dog media all the time in the world to attack that person before the convention with the desire to make them toxic.
It would take all the oxygen out of the room and make the VP the focus of the news cycles instead of President Trump and his campaign message.
It would take Biden off of the front pages and effectively put him back in the basement at the time when he's most vulnerable.
It's best for Trump to be aloof about this and keep stringing the media along. That way he becomes the news, not his running mate. Trump can make his message about him versus Biden, not Trump versus his VP nominee.

I hope he doesn’t announce it on stage. There are enough people who aren’t going to like whoever he picks and people who just don’t like Trump, that he may get booed heavily. That wouldn’t look good.
From the same article
The former president also declined to answer directly when asked about his top three contenders to serve as his running mate, but he did specifically mention Sens. JD Vance, R-Ohio, and Marco Rubio, R-Fla., as well as Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-NY, and former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson as possible choices.
I hope whoever it is is a bolt of lightning with as much energy.
If he’s sporting lightweight names like Carson, Stephanik and Rubio my only comment is raise your had if you still believe there’s going to be an election on November 5th. đ
any VP will get grilled with questions about J6th, stolen election, whether they would have stopped the counting as VP in 2020, pardon for Trump, ect
Gotta be Vivek if Trump has any hope of carrying MAGA though 2028 and beyond.
Vivek is the ONLY one on the national stage who is talking about EXACLY what needs to be done to restore America’s Free Constitutional Republic: DISMANTLE THE 80%+, $3+ TRILLION UNCONSTITUTIONAL PORTION OF THE FEDS!!!!.
Likely only a weasel with no shame who works for the other team or someone who puts themselves over the country. And he's just egotistical enough to fall for it. Does anyone realize this is the LAST chance we have to save the country? And they STILL won't do what they need to do to save it. Neither will we. tRusT tHe PlAn!
But most likely, it's a moot point, because Trump blowing it the first time has made it impossible for him to take back the office that was stolen from him. They have perfected the steal, and they have EVERY tool at their disposal, like natural disaster machines, to demons posing as aliens, to getting us blown up by a russian or chinese missile, EMPs, bird flu, voting machines enhanced with AI...
$5 says it’s none of the above. It’ll be a choice from ‘left field’, that no one expects.
Tradition would have him pick someone that his opponents loathe even more than him. That would be a very short list. All I can think of is Steven Miller, but that doesn’t seem very likely.
IF Trumo’s reason is to be politically smart then the closer to the DNC convention when he makes that announcemnt the better. The Dims will only have a month to gin up their attack machines on Trump’s VP pick before they go to their own convention (and all the riots there), meanwhile Trump’s VP pick will already be building up their name.
Donât rule out Nikki Haley . Hereâs what Trump said yesterdayâŚ
https://x.com/TheCalvinCooli1/status/1794075125098090557
President Trump makes a new statement on Nikki Haley possibly joining his administration in some sort of role.
Trump said, âI think sheâs going to be on our team, because we have a lot of the same ideas, the same thoughts.â
At least this time around, he knows who not to pick - hopefully!
My latest guess is that, first, Donald Trump picks New York or New Jersey as his place of residence. Second, he picks Governor Ron DeSantis to be his final choice for VP. Vivek will be Trumpsâ choice for, either, the Department of Commerce, or for Press Secretary. Vivek is too politically inexperienced to be VP. I would prefer that Trump doesnât choose his VP from anybody who is in political office/presently running for political office. Lee Zeldin from New York is the best choice for VP, IMHO.
No more Senators. They might get camera time, but there is no track record of actual accomplishment among them. We need a doer, not a talker.
Ask Tuco.
It’s Dick Cheney. You heard it here first.
Too bad the GOP is going first—or it would have been fun to announce it during the DNC’s show.
Everything this man does is smart.
