Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R) said Thursday that he is calling a special session of the General Assembly to pass legislation next week to ensure President Biden is on the November ballot for the general election.
“Ohio is running out of time to get Joe Biden, the sitting President of the United States, on the ballot this fall. Failing to do so is simply unacceptable. This is ridiculous. This is (an) absurd situation,” DeWine said, according to the Associated Press.
DeWine's decision came after Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose (R) warned the state Democratic Party on Tuesday that Biden will not be on the ballot in the November election unless the party's nomination date is changed to comply with state law.
The party will officially choose its nominee at the the Democratic National Convention, which is scheduled for Aug. 19-22. However, Ohio's deadline for political parties to certify their nominee is 90 days before the general election, which is Aug. 7 this year.
LaRose mentioned that he had previously told the party that either the Democratic National Committee will have to move its presidential nomination or the Ohio state legislature would pass a remedy. However, the state House of Representatives failed to pass a bill that would have allowed Biden to be on the ballot before the legislative session ended, the Ohio Capital Journal reported.
DeWine said that LaRose told him Thursday that the state is “up against a wall,” and next Wednesday is the final deadline.
“I’ve waited. I’ve been patient. And my patience has run out,” DeWine said.

The law in Ohio is not ambiguous. The lefturds ignored it. They deserve to suffer the consequences of that choice.

Trump will win Ohio, regardless, but not having Biden on the ballot could hurt democrats in down ballot races. But of course, RINO DeWine can’t have that.

I live in Ohio. To compare DeWine to a pussy is to be unfair to a female orifice.
I sense the powers that be in Ohio want to make sure they’ve got powerful people in both parties in Washington. That is why they didn’t draw Bob Latta and Marcy Kaptur into the same district, even though they live 15 miles apart (Bowling Green and Toledo) and northwest Ohio should not have been gerrymandered to protect them. This same mentality goes to the Senate election here, where a lot of the establishment wants Sherrod Brown to win, even though he is a hammer and sickle boy from the old school. If Biden is not on the ballot, both Brown and Kaptur will lose in November in spectacular fashion. The ‘Rats will also lose Emilia Sykes in the 13th district (Akron/Summit County).
We need to elect a conservative in 2026. Maybe we can get someone like Brad Wenstrup. We also need to elect at least 50 conservatives to the state House of Representatives (we have 45; sadly, there are 22 repubicans and 32 ‘Rats who have a coalition that controls the Ohio House.

De Wine is correct. The Ohio GOP should not join the chorus of groups/people who have been trying to destroy the rights of US citizens to be able to have a real choice in the 2024 Elections. This “we have to destroy democracy to save democracy” philosophy is absurd. The voters should decide, not some corrupt officials in NY, GA, Biden DOJ, and elsewhere.
Equal protection. They can’t give him special privileges, just because his campaign dropped the ball.
