What happened is they got caught, so now they’re downplaying it hoping it’ll blow over.
It was a full fledged trap set in hopes of catching Trump in it. In the end, they would just say “we’re sorry, but Mr. Trump chose to resist arrest and we did what we had to”. Who would arrest them?
The FBI received specific instructions that they were authorized to “engage” Trump or his security detail if necessary. IOW, they were authorized to kill.

The only questions which remain is how detailed was the attack everyone watched with the dozens of armored cars and fully outfitted agents searching for documents Trump’s lawyers were negotiating with the archives over.
How much more proof do you need this regime is a Communist dictatorship which has absolutely no regard for the law or constitution? How many times do you have to see them use the FBI and CIA as weapons against the people and now the leading dissident against the Party? This is the behavior you expect from Premier Mao or Kim, not a President of the United States. An obvious assassination plot similar to Kennedy and Lincoln is done in broad daylight by marked cars and agents has to be exposed from the bottom to the top.
This obviously had approval by Wray and AG Garland, who gave them permission to kill the leading candidate at the time and nominee now? It obviously has the fingerprints of Barak and Biden who have absolutely no respect for this country and a deep hatred for President Trump and his MAGA army. This was their attempt to take out number one threat as well as the end to the biggest obstacle to the Worldwide Communist Party.
In a free country with an honest media there would be outrage coming from the guardians of the truth, don’t hold your breath. The same people who scream Watergate every time there is a charge of Repub scandal, most of which are fake, you will hear the silence screaming out their hypocrisy. This is worse than selective outrage, this is an accomplice to murder.
There is no assumption of innocence with these criminals; they have shown their dirty hands and feet using their power to harass and abuse innocent victims. They do not give the assumption of innocence to Trump or his supporters. These jackboot thugs deserve no assumption by abusing the law when they invaded a presidential residence, but to go in with an intent of deadly force is asking for an accident.
How bad does it have to get before people say enough is enough. These filthy dirty cops were willing to assassinate an ex-President over a bunch of worthless files every President has had access to in the last 200 years. Everyone involved in this raid needs to turn in their resignation papers and accept whatever punishment is applicable to enforcing a treasonous act. This is not only an attack on your chief rival, a private citizen, but the very foundation of American freedom. What is the punishment for this?
There has not been this deep an attack on America since Kennedy. People need to pay and the complete truth must be revealed. There can no longer be any cute word games or denials when this serious an attack has occurred. Who can imagine an administration could stoop to these extremes in what was once the freest country in the world.

There was no reasonable expectation that the officer were in any danger whatsoever. None. Zero. Zip. Nada.
And then there is the little problem of threatening force against a former President being a felony under which Garland and his henchmen need to be rounded up and thrown in jail.

The Dan Bongino camp says that the Deadly Force statement is not routine.
The FBI camp, including ex-FBI agents Kyle Seraphin and Garrett O'Boyle, both of which have no love for the FBI that suspended them, and Bongino has had both on his show and speaks very highly of, say that DOJ Use of Deadly Force policy is on EVERY search warrant execution document and absolutely is routine.
Who to believe?
They likely wanted to have a deadly firefight and burn down Mar-a-Lago to start a CW.
