Hundreds of graduates at Harvard University walked out of their commencement Thursday after the school announced 13 students who participated in the recent pro-Palestinian protests on campus would not be allowed to receive their diplomas with fellow students.

Groups of graduates walked out chanting “Free, Free Palestine” and “Let them walk, let them walk” in reference to the students barred from walking at the ceremony, The Associated Press reported.

A total of more than 1,000 students participated in the walkout, according to the school’s protest groups.

Let’s see how it goes when they stomp their feet and make demands of an employer, should they encounter one. This crap may be fine for college, but it don’t cut it in the real world.

This sounds like something happening at a High School.
The old fight of a girl wanting to wear a Tux to the Prom.
Immature and frivolous.
People not thinking for themselves.

Pomp and circumstance over pomp and circumstance.

I finished university basically in just over 3 years. I attended full time and during summers. By my Senior year I was just a couple credits from graduating so I took two courses the first semester, got the credits to graduate, and then took the last semester and summer abroad. I didn’t care about the graduation ceremony. What, wear a blue smock and throw my hat in the air? They don’t even give out the diplomas anyway it was just a rolled up blank paper. The real diploma came in the mail. I told my family I would rather spend 9 months overseas than stick around doing basically nothing just to attend a ceremonial event.

I know some people get sentimental about these things but whatever. These kids getting their diplomas today - good luck to them. AI will replace most of their job prospects unless they get an advanced STEM degree.

Don’t give them their diplomas - ever. Just throw them in the burn trash. Instead of adults, those “grads” are worse than children having a temper tantrum. Especially when most of them couldn’t tell you anything about Israel, Hamas or Palestine.

DeSales this past weekend. No Palestinian protests but a lot of South American flags.

That would be a wonderful position for him to take. It would hit them right in the bread basket, and it would be wildly popular with normal Americans who probably do not understand why Harvard gets to sit on fifty billion dollar endowment tax free.

What is the cost to attend Harvard for 2022-2023? Total cost for those years: $83,538. Besides some student loans, the parents must be so proud their little entitled darlings are wasting away big money on usless studies and rioting on campus.

Recently in the hospital for gallstones. I asked the nice sonogram technician (maybe 27 years old) what medical school he went to for his qualification. He told me he went to a medical trade school for 2 years and less than a year residency at my hospital (Providence) in Orange County. I didn't ask what he paid for the training, but I'm sure it's a lot less than going to UCLA, Harvard, Princeton, Yale, good ole Columbia.

This kid (as I'm 74) is making almost the yearly amount of tuition for those spending many more years to become a doctor. Plus, it's a fact we are importing more Doctors, Nurses, Technicians for our advanced diagnostic hardware (CT, MRI, from India, Pakistan, and other.

If the parents can stop associating "Trade Schools" with being a plumber, electrician, truck driver or construction, they will find there are more and more trade schools being created for technical training/jobs like his. I see them in TV commercials often. Maybe they should get together to form a PR campaign to change the trade school name to something like Med Tech School. I like that. I can see the advertisements and brochures right now. Haha.

Let them all have there degrees burned and erased from the books. Make them disappear completely. You already have their money.

Since they're so adept at organizing these stupid smart students should organize calls to action and file class actions against the overpriced ivy league diploma mills as well as the SoreASS funded NGOs putting them up to this foolishness. For all their pseudo and they're too dumb to realize they've been scammed

I’d like to require those universities provide student loans out of the endowments.

AND I’d like to see the ability for students to discharge those loans via bankruptcy.

If universities graduate students with low income potential degrees (worthless basket weaving etc) then those universities should expect not to get repaid.

Eventually after massive student loan losses those universities will prune the degrees that are doing nothing but causing social problems.

Basically I’d weaponize student sloth and greed and turn their eyes towards the universities that didn’t provide them with enough incentive for a productive education.

It would also curtail (some) of those universities social/political ambitions by redirecting their massive funds.
