A farmworker in Michigan is the second person to become infected with the current H5N1 bird flu virus.
The farmworker had mild symptoms and has since recovered, local health officials said.
According to Michigan’s chief medical executive, Natasha Bagdasarian, the current health risk to the public remains low, but the virus has circulated in dairy and poultry farms across the country this spring.

From what I’ve read, this virus mutates so frequently that vaccines have been of limited use.
So far, livestock populations seems to be most in danger - not humans.

As is typical with viruses, every mutative step results in a strain that is closer to the foundational virus.
In this case, “the common cold”.
I’m concerned about poultry populations and dairy cows, not people.
It’s not working. No none is panicking except perhaps the Karens who won’t be able to screech hysterically at people not wearing a mask.

IT’S NO WORSE THAN REGULAR FLU. Had it back in my dairy farm days. Farmers are subject to almost anything, but they seldom panic. They don’t pay much attention to viruses or flu. The animals have to be tended to.

It’s the ANIMALS I’m concerned about. It’s not just a ‘regular flu’ to birds, and may not be to dairy herds. That could get very expensive in a lot of ways.

Likewise. I will note that people with bad diets, don’t get a lot over exercise, don’t get out much, and are perpetually online or are in a constant state of arousal should be concerned because they’re probably not in the best of health.
