With this new tariff, the Biden administration admits that the Climate Change hoax is less important than his re-election.
If there really was an existential crisis, they would do everything they had to do to reduce carbon emissions, even if the Chinese cars were part of that effort. But, by restricting cheap Chinese cars, while forcing people to buy American cars, shows that Biden is caving to the unions. At the same time, he's squeezing them into making more EV cars, which is his appeasement to the climate activists.
He's really attacking American consumers on two fronts-making them buy EV cars they don't want; and forcing them to buy more expensive American cars.
Americans criticize the China, but in fact, DC marxists’, (particularly post Obama) massive economic central-planning and aggressive social-engineering plans use the exact same methods, and have the same goals

IIRC, it comes out to about 50 cents for every gallon of gasoline refined. A cost which is passed onto customers.
