Fact Check: NYT Claims Reagan Withheld Arms from Israel, Like Biden

CLAIM: President Ronald Reagan, like President Joe Biden, withheld arms from Israel to influence its military policy.

VERDICT: MISLEADING. Reagan acted within the law, and in very different circumstances, in withholding arms. The New York Times‘ Peter Baker — winner of the Pulitzer Prize for his newspaper’s bogus reporting on “Russia collusion” — wrote Friday that President Reagan, too, withheld weapons from Israel over concerns about their use.

Baker’s aim in the article appears to be to rescue Biden from some of the criticism he has faced since he confirmed earlier this week that the administration was withholding bombs and artillery from Israel over its Rafah operation.

Baker notes that the Reagan administration delayed the sale of jet fighters and the shipment of cluster munitions to Israel on several occasions.

They can’t go back that many years and compare what state that region had and what it is now.

A close friend of mine from Lebanon was kidnapped by Arafat’s PLO when they also held the Anglican Envoy, Terry Waite.

He said they put the pistol to the head of the prisoner next to him and executed him. Then they put the gun to his head and pulled the trigger and the gun went click, on an empty chamber. That was their was of influencing him to talk.

He subsequently moved to the USA but still has family there.

The only thing I can figure is that Bush and the CIA wanted to keep on good terms with the Arab oil countries. Remember, in 1967 during the war, our spy ship was supposedly giving Israel troop movements to Egypt and Israel blew up our spy ship Liberty.

Israelis have already bombed the outskirts of Iran’s nuclear production facility— including the entrance to a mountain facility. To show Iran they most certainly can take out all of Iran’s nuclear weapons capabilities. In no time at all. Israel invaded southern Lebanon in 1982 (Under Carter later years and Pres Reagan's first year there was a cease fire) . PLO went off after Israel invaded. Reagan did a most idiotic decision in trying to appease Haig and Weinberger at the same time (Who had two opposing views). Should of chose Weinberger’s side since he went in there like a female reproductive part (No ammo in their weapons WTF). In short, Reagan is highly overrated and Israel is a secular State btw.
