NOAA says tonight's 'cannibal' solar storm could be worst in 165 YEARS and cause GPS and power outages - as they reveal exact time it'll hit

Earth could suffer the worst solar storm in 165 years as six streams of plasma that erupted from the sun this week are set to make crash into our atmosphere tonight.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) revealed Friday that the worst-case scenario would be what happened during the 1859 Carrington event, which set telegraph stations on fire, cutting communications worldwide.

In our modern-day society a geomagnetic storm - a major disturbance of Earth's magnetosphere- of that magnitude would cause widespread electrical disruptions, blackouts and damage to critical infrastructure.

During the Carrington Event, telegraphers were getting shocked and even though they turned the machines off the solar energy was still giving them power. Several telegraphers in Boston and Maine communicated with each other for several hours wth the machines turned off.

Although the forecast doesn’t extend out long enough to show if it will still be big at nightime over the USA to see the aurora.

It has to be clear to see an aurora, and AS USAUAL, the forecast is for cloud cover.

Which means MASSIVE frustration.

My son is an astronautical engineer. He had a job at NASA when he was in college as a date technician on a solar observatory satellite. Essentially he took up close and personal photos of the Sun.

He got a couple showing huge plasma eruptions shooting away from earth. Pretty wild stuff.

He’s still at NASA driving satellites that fly in formation and keeping them from trading paint.

Sure you can. Turn off and take all your electronic devices and put them in a metal garbage can, with the lid on top. Keep them there for the next few days, as the solar flares can go on until May 13th. You may need a metal dumpster with lid for larger items like your 85 inch TV.
