No real explanation for the “cannibal” terminology. I can only assume that it will turn everybody on the Earth into cannibals. But our cellphones will work.

I believe it’s when several smaller flares join with a larger one. Not sure about where they got the “cannibal” terminology out of that, but I blame it on lowered educational standards.
