Before testimony resumed in the Hush Trump trial in New York City, the judge ruled on the first bunch of prosecutor-driven complaints about how the former president and current 2024 presidential candidate broke his gag order. The judge found that Donald Trump had indeed broken his gag order and then fined him the maximum amount per violation.
Prosecutors filed complaints in three different groupings for a total of 14 charges of breaking what is widely believed by constitutional lawyers to be illegal and unconstitutional gagging of a defendant. This first tranche was from Trump's TruthSocial accounts. See the list of his contretemps below.
In today's ruling, Trump was found in contempt for nine statements he made on his social media site for a total of a $9,000 fine.
Judge Juan Merchan told Trump that if he kept doing it he'd consider locking him up, or as the Joe Biden donor put it in his order:
Defendant is hereby warned that the Court will not tolerate willful violations of its lawful orders and that if necessary and appropriate under the circumstances, it will impose an incarceratory punishment.

“Not if they are using their authority to deprive someone of their culture rights. USC Title 18, Section 1983.”
Does not apply to judges via federal statutes and court decisions.

Not if they are using their authority to deprive someone of their culture rights. USC Title 18, Section 1983. “Deprive someone of their culture rights.”
Like prohibiting someone from wearing a sombrero while singing “La cucaracha” at Taco Bell?
Also, there is no Title 18 USC § 1983. I'm guessing you earned your law degree by watching reruns of Matlock.

Title 18 USC § 1983 They got the number wrong - but are correct that judges can be sued:
42 U.S. Code § 1983
To: thegagline
It is also limited to states - not Federal.

Sue who? Judges have absolute immunity from civil suits. Which is why the remedy of baseball bats need to be applied to corrupt arrogant judges.

"Democrats are worried, however. Because there are signs of many residents fleeing and they’re the producing ones - the tax base. Democrats are countering with the willing introduction of illegals as replacements so they cans solve the ‘election’ problem. Now they only have the ‘money’ problem. Where to get it? Exit taxes? Luxury taxes? Retirement taxes? Or just go see Big Pappa Biden or his ilk?"That's an astute assessment. Good stuff.

Judge can be sued based upon state statue as this case is if Trump violated state booking laws.

“Judge can be sued based upon state statue as this case is if Trump violated state booking laws.”
Can you rephrase and reference the statute?
To: Rummyfan
Wait until this judge has to stand before others and explain
how he has conducted himself in the case.
It won’t be pretty.

“culture” should have been “civil,” obviously, but Siri screwed that up. 18 instead of 42 - my mind was on federal gun laws. Rest assured, you can nitpick all that you want, but this is FR, not a legal brief being submitted to a court. Also, I am correct on the substance, which is that a judge can be sued under federal law for deprivation of CIVIL rights under color of law.

No decision from SCOTUS om immunity yet. We are free to speculate, but speculations have been wrong before.

There are many parts of NYS that are conservative. A lot. The problem is three regional areas/cities whose populations control mostly all of the state voting and thus, Democrats in office that beget these leftist judges, prosecutors and officials. I understand this. I live in a red area of a blue state myself, so I could take a hit if we actually did boycott blue states.
But the survival of our nation is at stake, and we'd better start making our money count if we want to save it.

I’m ready to boycott NY in every way I can, but I’m not sure how. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Not buying any salsa from there's a good start.
