Greene says Johnson’s ‘days as Speaker are numbered’

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) is doubling down on her commitment to oust Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), saying his days in the leadership position are “numbered” as House members await a potential privileged vote on a motion to vacate.

Greene last month filed a motion to remove Johnson, saying he crossed a line by holding a vote for additional Ukraine aid. Two other GOP lawmakers have already backed it — enough votes to remove the Speaker if all Democrats vote with her — though Democrats have generally opposed her effort.

“Permanent funding for Ukraine is exactly what they want and Mike Johnson will give it to them,” Greene said Sunday in a post on the social platform X, referring to Ukrainian leadership and the Biden administration. “Peace is not an option for them because it doesn’t fit the government appropriations war business and economic model, which is vile and disgusting.”

Foolish woman with delusions of grandeur.

Foolish might be too kind. Stupid might be a better descriptive.

And where in the World Wide Web is a link of her calling for Johnson to leave after the election?

MTG is quoted from numerous sources saying Johnson doesn't have enough votes in conference now. She is saying that Johnson won't be the conference's candidate after the election in 2025.

Her position is constant. LEAVE NOW.

MTG can force a vote now. She hasn't done that. She won't do that. She will wait until after the election when the conference nominates their 2025 candidate.

Please post a link to one of those sources.

I've posted links to disprove your beliefs, so you should be able to find a link backing up your comment.

"If we had the vote today in our conference, he would not be speaker”

Looks to me that MTG is waiting for the 120th Congress when each party conference will nominate their candidate for Speaker.

Of course MTG wants Johnson gone now. But she's apparently not going to divide the conference and threaten the fragile majority with the election coming up. Whether it was her idea all along, or Trump talked her into it, I don't know.

“Today”. That’s the magic word. She’s not saying “next year”. Of course everyone wants The Johnson gone next year, but as you say..... “MTG wants Johnson gone now”.

It would be a controlled process like the one that got Johnson elected in the first place, don’cha know.

Gaetz is eerily silent over this situation. Odd, seeing how he was so instrumental in the first Speaker change.

Really? You are clearly not paying attention.

We used to be able to discuss political strategy here. Now, if you don’t ape the Trump line you get abused.

I stopped donating when the Russians took over.

"In our conference" is the key phrase. The votes she has now "in our conference" is meaningless except for it does represent a threat to Johnson's speakership in the 120th Congress if her vote count remains the same.

And of course MTG would want Johnson gone now, but it appears that she can't get that and she's not going to destroy the pre-election majority trying to do that.
