Feminism has left middle-aged women like me single, childless and depressed
The Telegraph ^ | 25 April 2024 | Petronella Wyatt

I increasingly feel that feminism has failed my generation. It is a peculiarity of the West that it is divided into sets which differ profoundly in their beliefs. This state of affairs began with the Reformation and has grown more pronounced ever since. There were Protestants and Catholics who differed fundamentally not only on faith but on practical matters. It was among Protestant communities that feminism first emerged, and it is in Protestant countries such as America and Britain in which feminist beliefs have been at their most vocal and strident in tone, like a religion with no dilution of agnosticism. Margaret Thatcher, though she would have denied it, was a feminist de facto, and no Catholic country could have produced her like.

. . .

Where, for instance, does it leave women like me, when we have reached the age of 54, as I have, and find ourselves both single and childless? Hugging the collected works of Proust, or engaging in furtive sojourns to the pub that bring remembrances of things pissed? One in 10 British women in their 50s have never married and live alone, which is neither pleasant nor healthy.

Equal opportunity in our society, really, lol. Feminism turns masculinity into the enemy that has to be opposed no matter what the cost aided by the degree of force by the State. Quotas, tax breaks, family law, selective service hypocrisy, subjective harassment claims, wages split that destroys leverage, etc... is not a vehicle of equal opportunity. Feminism propped up by the State is just another sign our culture has entered its terminal stage as the family unit and traditional mores/roles that are time-tested to function positively becomes a casualty to materialistic/selfish pursuits. Men are checking out observing the implosion and the pending strong-arm ideology/force that will fill the vacuum. This cycle repeats once civilizations starts with the perverted “introspection” of calling what roles/mores that built great societies oppressive and outdated. Happened in Ancient Greece, Rome, China, etc... and is happening now.

I agree with you on this.

Sigh. A sad affair all around.

It’s a pathology that played a central role…perhaps THE central role…in the fall of western civilization. The pathology is ushering in a new dark age.

Just because you can dream up a fantasy, doesn’t mean it can be anything more than a fantasy. Reality is objective. Man’s (or woman’s) subjective tastes and desires are meaningless.

The good news concerning “feminism” is that it will become a victim of Darwinism, that is all these feminist that don’t marry and don’t have children will not leave a legacy behind that would continue the movement. Sort of like the Shakers of the 1700s, in that their beliefs meant they would not be sustainable.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shakers

The one thing that the “women’s movement” has proven it is not that women don’t need men, but that men don’t need women!

It is my theory that the “patriarchy” that the women’s movement rails against was actually constructed by women to protect women. By tearing down the patriarchy women lost the protection that men and children provided.

Things will change but never go back fully to the way it was but marriage and children will make a comeback (or our society is doomed).

I’ve been more talk along these lines lately. My youngest son is afraid to date anymore. He can’t find a “good ole fashioned lady.”

“The lament of the feminazi Karens. Their pathology has baked harmed millions.”

They were taught a harmful but popular ideology. Many of them just went along with it and were not perpetuators.

If we are to heal our country, we need to stop the condemnations. We need to change divorce laws to make divorce less harmful to men. We need to stop portraying white, heterosexual men as oppressors. There is much more that we need to roll back.

We need to recognize that men and women handle sex differently. One-night stands are terrible for women. Most women should not be developing careers in their college years when those are their most fertile and attractive years.

What else am I leaving out?

Feminism is just another form of group think.
And mass control actually...you know like a cult.
And the devout adherents have sacrificed their natural child baring instincts in order to part of the group. A group that could care less about what is actually good for you individually.

The great Rush Limbaugh: “Feminism is designed to give unattractive women access to the mainstream of society.” But it still doesn’t change their unattractiveness.

Thank you. It was almost 40 years ago.

Running the business we started together kept me very busy for the next 30 years.

There are also men who will admit that they are feminists but how do they measure success, by the size of their wives’ pants?

This passive dingaling had a moment’s acquaintance with one of the greatest, most unusual women of our time, and now she blames Margaret Thatcher for her spinsterhood. She admits she has given in to mental illness rather than finding a church or charity in which to volunteer and stop thinking about herself. If she were American, it would be Trump’s fault.

This is why men were traditonally the leaders in society. Because they can make decisions, and the best of them understand that even when you fail to make a decision, you are making a decision, and it will have consequences.
