Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky said he was “personally” grateful to “Speaker Mike Johnson for the decision that keeps history on the right track” after Johnson shepherded a $61 billion Ukraine aid package through the House Saturday.
The image of scores of Democrats waving Ukraine flags and cheering on the House floor as the bill passed will forever sting the conservatives from whose ranks Johnson rose, only to serve them with the ultimate betrayal.

You cant do anything with legislation regarding the problems you cite, because the rest of the government opposes Congress. Its that simple.
This is frustrating, but frustration-induced rage won’t help. It makes for wild hatred of anything, and everything, as we see here.
And after they remove Johnson, what?
Will you have a Dem speaker until January 2025?
Post 2024 elections?
Republicans have a very bare majority which could easily be lost, with just a couple of defections. Just in time for, possibly, a time when a Republican Congress will be an absolute necessity.
This is not a time for emotionalism.
Trillions?
The only country that could refer to is the US itself. Thats where all these trillions have been going. The US problem (well, one of them, but its the biggest) is indulgent domestic spending from 2021-2023.
But nobody seems to care.
You’ve been eating that rum candy again!
Yeah, cause this situation is just like the Blitz. Get real.
Disgusting? Nah, that’s not disgusting. This is disgusting.

Really? Money for housing? Money to support food purchases for non profits to be distributed? There’s all sort of things that could be funded and tried to better Americans with “our” money…
But the only problems they seem to want to fix is give money to Ukraine and increase domestic spying without warrants.
Given these votes I’m sure Johnson and the RINOs will bar Trump from running themselves.
Just a fraction of that goes to the actual war. Where does the rest go? How much did Johnson get?

You are right. The Euros have been covering the bulk of “soft” items to support Ukraine (which has a near ruined economy since 2022) and have stepped up even more since Oct 2023.
Money is not the problem.
What everyone really needs from the US are its vast stockpiles of munitions, high tech items which only the US has in quantity, and its enormous parking lots of reserve equipment.
The rest could easily have been pared from the bill. But it doesnt seem like anyone bothered.
The bulk of it is ammo and equipment, which is very hard to sideline. There is a very small third party market for 155mm DPICM shells or Patriot SAM rounds, for ex.
This was politically inevitable and unstoppable.
Everyone with a brain knows Ukraine is circling the drain militarily and could well be crushed before the election.
In an election year the Republicans can’t accept the optics of Ukraine going down while they are blocking aid.
Most likely this latest package will have very little impact on the battlefield and Ukraine will go down regardless, and the Republicans and Trump will be blamed in the media regardless.
It seems that Johnson is working at the behest of Trump on this matter.
But you are right. The Rep margin in the House barely exists. Anything can happen. Thats no excuse to get rid of it out of pique.
The Ukrainians are in trouble because of a general lack of artillery and SAM ammo. With decent supplies they can choke off and block any Russian attack, as they have before.
Every man, woman and child in America just gave Zelenskyy 200 bucks. For what? One more year of begging and jackassery.
