Housing starts fell to 1.32 million.
The numbers: Construction of new homes fell 14.7% in March, as home builders scaled back new projects.
The pace of construction slowed as builders contended with higher mortgage rates sapping demand.

Around here, large businesses are building cheap duplexes at an amazing rate. They’re going up seemingly everywhere.
The DNC sees this as a success.
HIGHER MORTGAGE rates is only past of it:
PERMITTING IS AN EXPENSIVE NIGHTMARE
MATERIALS ARE MORE THAN “COSTLY”. 4 X 8 plywood is still over $24 a sheet====was $8.
Labor is a headache....How many INVADERS demand work & cause problems???
VALERIE JARRETT & OBAMA need to win a GLOBAL PRIZE for COMPLETE INSANITY & DESTRUCTION.
We wouldn’t have a housing shortage if the 26 million illegals Biden let in were expelled.
Maybe because the majority of people needing/wanting homes are illegal alien law breakers who have no money and no jobs?
Same here.
Probaly four large neighborhoods popped up in the last year.
My wife and I call them “Ka-Chunk” homes....because they all look the same, like they are just rolling them off an assembly line that makes the “Ka-chunk” sounds when a another one pops out. All of them on postage stamp lots, where you could literally pass the salt out your window to your neighbor.
The prices for these homes are stupid high...and people are buying them.
Of course. Politicos arranged laws to make mortgages insanely expensive and house building, too. But, since they bought up property for rentals — they will make millions.
Same thing was done in Aussie-land.
“Around here, large businesses are building cheap duplexes at an amazing rate. They’re going up seemingly everywhere.”
Here in Wisconsin, too! Most buildings are ‘businesses below, apartments on top’ and many of them are still EMPTY after many months. Rents for those apartments START at $1,200.00/month PLUS utilities, internet, water, etc. Many cannot afford it. Just read yesterday of a new downtown development in Sun Prairie - where Mom lives. Same thing, and they’ve already got empty apartments all over the town as it is.
They must be building in anticipation of Happy Days Again when President in Exile Trump is re-elected. Fingers Crossed! ;)
Building homes like crazy in Atlanta. We have very low inventory.
Jarrett and the kenyan need to be strung up for treason along with the multitudes that aided and abetted.
Inflation is scaring away home builders.
Don’t buy a new home. Illegal aliens dominate the construction industry.
Don’t let the parasites work.
There is no housing shortage. There is an illegal alien overabundance.
Sorry I initially wanted to add on to the materials staying high priced ...but ya “triggered me(lol)” with the muzzies name and his evil wench handler!... Anyway the mills have scaled back their production in order keep the gravy train rolling into their bank accounts...we will never see reasonable prices until real manufacturing returns to the U.S. and creates demand for wood in all facets where competition will knock the prices to where they should be.
Ahhh, the everlasting “shortage”.
Who would drop half a mil on a 180k home? Thats insanity. Blackrock and the like continue to drop cash on homes and keep them overpriced.
When govt makes it more expensive and risky to build, you get less building, duh.
