Posted on 04/05/2024 7:26:49 AM PDT by ClarityGuy
My house in NJ rattled for 5 seconds, on phone with coworkers in Albany and Westchester NY, they had issues at the same time. This was about 30 sec ago.

Nah…there aren’t that many windmills up here. I can think of a couple of the big ones. We are the valley between the berkshires and the hills east of Sprignfield. Pretty much the CT river valley in Western MA

“Tremor also came through Southern Connecticut - a good ten seconds.”
Same here in the Danbury/Ridgefield area.

At a Stanford-affiliated research corporation at a multi-service government meeting in Palo Alto. Even that far away it was pretty scary.

I had waited for 3 weeks to perform some system testing at PacBell. The data center was near San Francisco. My test appointment was set for 5 PM. The data center wasn't quite setup up, so I was on the phone waiting for them to be ready. The Loma Prieta quake struck and there was lots of expletives launched. The test team threw in the towel for the testing at 5:08 PM. Lots of "war stories" from my co-workers in the SF area.
The Northridge quake was shaking all the way to San Diego. My wife left her side of the closet open and all of her full shoe boxes came tumbling out on top of me. A lousy way to wake up.

I’m 10 miles from epicenter and house shook violently for 30 seconds- no damage found in basement or chimney. Round valley resovior is biggest in state. Huge dams, 130 ft. Deep.

My wife had to call into her hospital to find out if it affected any surgeries.
The stuff you never think about. But imagine having a neurosurgeon poking around in your head during some shaking.

The center line of the August 2017 eclipse passed close to my house. I actually took a drive 60 miles north to be dead center. 2 minutes 15 seconds of totality. Within a few days we had a large earthquake and aftershocks that hit for another 3 weeks at all hours of the day.
