Party machinery, underway since 2021, will make it easier for the “next Trump” to emerge. But what will actually propel such a figure into the White House is the transformation of the GOP base.
The increasingly reactionary views of grassroots Republicans virtually guarantee that the movement will maintain its dominant influence on the party for the foreseeable future.
A yard sign I saw in rural Pennsylvania during the 2020 presidential campaign tells the story. Planted in front of a house was a homemade poster with the words “RONALD REAGAN IS A LOSER.” President Reagan’s face was crossed out with an X, with Donald Trump’s smiling face next to it. Presumably this was a Trump supporter, but why attack Reagan? The 40th president was beloved by Republicans, not on the ballot, long dead and certainly not a threat to Trump. The last assumption is where I was wrong.

Flame away.
It was the “Tea Party” before it was “MAGA”. Its people wanting basic responsibility and not corruption in our government—and who do not want to be targeted, lied about, and punished for suggesting it.
Hysterical. Love the part where the writer makes a big deal out of one individual with a sign in his yard dissing Reagan.
“A former Trump administration official who penned a scathing anti-Trump op-ed and book under the pen name “Anonymous” revealed himself Wednesday as a former chief of staff at the Department of Homeland Security.
The official, Miles Taylor, said in a tweet six days before election day that Donald Trump is “a man without character” and “it’s time for everyone to step out of the shadows.”
Taylor has been an outspoken critic of Trump’s in recent months and had repeatedly denied he was the author of the column — even to colleagues at CNN, where he has a contributor contract. He left the Trump administration in June and endorsed Democrat Joe Biden for president this summer.
In a statement, White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany called Taylor a “low-level, disgruntled former staffer” who “is a liar and a coward who chose anonymity over action and leaking over leading.””
This about the author. Maybe he needs to feel important.
“The increasingly reactionary views of grassroots Republicans”
Such as what? The left has inflicted DEI, ESG, banned fossil fuels, banned gas cars, put drag queens in schools, invented new holidays supporting gays, trans, every 100 year old racial conflict, MLK day, Juneteenth, racial favoritism for everyone not white, bankrupted the country, downgraded the US treasury debt, insulted Christians, and so on. The right wants the destruction to stop. For that, those who merely want to stop the avalanche of filth and corruption, are called “increasingly reactionary”.
I’m what the left call a P.O.C and I am all for a 100 year reign for MAGA. and while I’m at it, F* Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi.
This article reminds me of the Trump meme. “It you they are after, I’m just in the way.” We are all just a basket full of deplorables.
Well said. The LA Slime is nothing but a leftist toy owned by a billionaire commie leftist who never learne what truth means.
These guys quote people who worked with Trump.
Trump is a public figure. He’s not an actor whom we want to hear the inside scoop on
We see who he is from here. Besides that he goes out to meet the people at his rallies every month or so.
We know who his family is. His family of origin. We know where he went to school. We know that people who worked for him pre politics have no complaints
We know he understands the foundation of the country
We know he does what he says he’s going to do
Another thing we know is he is rude to people who want to destroy the country
I know he’s always been nice to me and the group I represent so why do I care if he’s rude to Nancy pelosi.
LAT wants MALN group to succeed.
(make America last next)
MAGA movement is pretty moderate all things considered. I suppose compared to Trotskyite Neocons it’s far right
I’ll take that as a complement.
Yep....Tea
party movement started 15 yrs ago !
And it was the Reform Party before the Tea Party.
The one thing in common is the UniParty tried to destroy all three.
It was shocking to see what McCain and his minions did the Tea Party.
In a statement, White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany called Taylor a “low-level, disgruntled former staffer” who “is a liar and a coward who chose anonymity over action and leaking over leading.””

McEnany gave us a perfect personality profile of that vile POS! That profile also perfectly exemplifies an enormous majority of registered Democrat voters and virtually all Democrat office holders, elected and appointed.
Hey LA Slimes, still waiting for you guys to released the Obama/Rashid Khalidi tape from 2008, waiting..waiting..but this is what the commies want, they dont fear Trump, they fear US..and they want us gone by any means necessary because for the commies they wont give up their power to the people, they want to keep power forever..so they can take everyone they hate and kill them
He is pretty weak in defining the threat, but he did include the obligatory Hitler comparison down the page.
If there is a threat, and I think ought to be, it is from people who tired of government, including Taylor’s “rational Republicans,” constantly lying to them about everything and showing no interest in acting in the best interest of the country and the American people. If there is a threat, and I think there ought to be, it was not created by Trump. It was created by government at every level that does whatever it pleases and has become the adversary of the rights and well-being of Americans. A people worthy of liberty should embrace the word “threat” proudly.
HE clothes washers that don't clean.
What a mess.
Voters are a threat to democracy
