On Tuesday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “America Reports,” Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg stated that “the automotive sector is moving towards EVs” and China pushed for an advantage in the EV market “because that’s the economically smart play” but “we can’t just sit back and let this happen on its own pace” because there’s a competition between the U.S. and China.
Co-host John Roberts asked, “Tesla sales fell 8.5% the first quarter of this year, Ford, this week, is laying off two-thirds of its workforce at the F-150 electric Lightning plant, it’s also scaling back a battery production facility because of sagging sales. EV sales are nowhere near what this president wanted or expected. Yet, the administration continues to shove them down consumers’ throats. Why?”

Market schmarket. These F’in geniuses are smarter that the immutable laws of the market. Hence one of their most recent disasters in the making, the $20 fast food wage here in CA
“Yet, the administration continues to shove them down consumers’ throats. Why?”
Good for Roberts. The question is a bit naive. It assumes these pricks give a damn about wha the people want.
Butt gig’s only qualification is who he prefers to **** and where.
The government is so ignorant but so powerful, that they think they can change the time that the sun rises and sets...by changing our clocks.
A common tendency throughout babblin' biden's unhinged administration.
Maybe czar instead of confirmed department official was the right word after all.

Then see about upgrading our energy infrastructure so there's enough juice to charge those ridiculous EVs....
Copy that. The EV fad is over.
There’s nothing wrong with having an EV if your needs are supported by one - but most people are better off with an ICE and they know it.
IMHO the best practical market for buying an EV are married couples who need 2 cars anyway so that one can be EV and the other ICE. That way you don't have to be all in on just one car type. You have the best of both worlds at the ready. In other words, don't see it as either EV or ICE, see it as possibly having one of each.
That works for my wife and me. We put most of our miles in the EV (26K miles last year, with 16K of those charged at home). And we have the ICE pickup for: 1) the days we need two cars (split up driving different directions), 2) pickup chores, and 3) if we ever decide to go on a long trip that an EV would be bad at (charging deserts, or if I go on a trip without my wife since she's the one who wants to stop every 200 miles and walk around for 10-15 minutes, which is how often the EV needs to be charged anyway).
But even with that, I still wouldn't get an EV unless there are other variables in your favor, such as you don't live in the cold climate, you're in the market for a car anyway, you have a place where you can set up charging at home, and you drive enough miles for the gas and oil change savings to be worth the extra costs of having an EV.
Buttigieg should quit talking in English and start talking in some new, made-up language. That way he’d make more sense.
“the automotive sector is moving towards EVs”
Says the pillow biter. It is great to see the EV market collapse in front of our eyes, if gummit had just let the free market run its course we would have a better product even though it would be small percentage for those that want it. Instead have countless billions down the drain and pathetic vehicles.
I think the free market did and the government doesn’t like it. I used to see Tesla Model 3s and other EVs fairly regularly. Now I rarely see one.
The fiasco that may happen in NY and other states mandating all new vehicles after 2035 be EVs will blow up in their face like if an exploding cigar was the Hindenburg. There is little infrastructure to handle the EVs, and not enough EVs being produced. If they started today, it could not happen. The infrastructure part alone will be impossible in that timeframe. I suspect if people just refused to comply, they will either kick the can down the road or cancel the entire idea. Only noncompliance will get these idiots to stop. Too many people in both parties want his green grabs because they get rich and don’t care about the people.
When I see that Alfred E Neuman face of his, I laugh at this joke being in charge of anything.
That’s a gracious spin for a federal mandate. As if EV production numbers are based on a positive response to market demand.
Plus no cutting ahead in the EV charging line, as Biden’s Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm team did last year.
Obviously, Buttgig is an economic illiterate.
If EVs were the “economically smart play,” there would be no need to coerce and incentivize them!
Let me translate: “EVs are a good way to ruin what’s left of the American automotive industry and move all of those jobs to China, the country that calls all of the shots in this Administration (and pays millions to the Big Guy to make that happen).”
gaggle of numbnuts heading these agencies that have no clue aside from breathing
