On Thursday’s broadcast of CNN’s “Situation Room,” CNN Chief National Correspondent John King reacted to 2024 Republican presidential candidate former President Donald Trump attending the wake of a slain NYPD officer by stating that “there’s a disconnect between the crime statistics” and while property crimes and vehicle thefts have gone up, “most violent crimes are down” nationally and “the statistics tell you crime is in better shape now than it was a few years back. However, some of these crimes are so shocking, Wolf, that they stir people, they stir anxiety, and Trump wants to turn that into votes.”
Host Wolf Blitzer asked, “John, as we reported, a third former President, namely Donald Trump, is also in New York today attending the wake of an NYPD police officer gunned down during a traffic stop. Trump is not known necessarily for this sort of appearance. So, why is he doing this now?”

I thought CNN fired this meatball!
Is that dinosaur still living?
“the statistics tell you crime is in better shape now than it was a few years back.”
_________
Cooked books. When you stop prosecuting crime and write laws eliminating what constitutes crimes, crime statistics reflect that fact.
Dumb CNN, here go again “riots mostly peaceful”.
Because the vast majority of crimes never get reported to law enforcement, crime data is never a perfect reflection of crime itself. In order for a crime to end up in the FBI’s crime data:
The crime must be reported to or observed by the police.
Police must accurately record the crime in their internal database.
The respective police department must share its data with the FBI.
Each step in the process presents its own challenges. Surveys conducted by the Bureau of Justice Statistics suggest that more than 50 percent of violent crimes and around 70 percent of property crimes are never reported to police. For certain types of offenses, such as sexual assault, upwards of 75 percent of incidents may never be officially documented.
The only reason crime is “down” is that reports are down. Why report crime if no one shows up or the perp just gets off without bail. “Crime” will be “down” until November, then you won’t hear any Democrats even mention it.
If crime ISN’T UP as you say, WHY THE HELL ARE YOU NAZIS TRYING TO DISARM AMERICANS WHO ARE NOT CRIMINALs. Tell me that Uncle Adolf. You people all need to see shrinks.
And there’s today’s, “Republicans Pounce” cover story. As I keep saying, every time Democrats and their media are allies are completely defenseless or caught red-handed, out comes the Republicans pounce whitewash.
Protecting criminals is a crime.
FBI conveniently changes their crime reporting system during defund the police BLM riots.

Very likely more read about what CNN said in Breitbart than watched it on CNN. {smirk}
Even libs get their fix of fake news somewhere else these days.
Nice try John. Liberals know what a train wreck Biden and the Dems have made to country. Not fun for them trying to convince us, and them, that it hasn’t happened.
The only disconnect is that nobody realizes how bad it really is.
The FBI is no longer collecting crime statistics for the largest US cities, and they still can’t get the results they want.
Yes- i mean the rats would never try and turn people peacefully walking between the velvet ropes in the Capitol on January 6th into votes- would they?
“Trump is not known necessarily for this sort of appearance. “
Actually one of the Gold Star mothers whose son was assassinated due to zhao biden’s malfeasance in Afghanistan asked President Trump to attend her sons funeral if memory serves me...
Reality & stats do not agree, and that is by design which everyone with a functioning brain knows is the reality. The stats, like everything else are not accurate to cover for Biden, period.
And even with the cooked books, the stats still show crime is higher than it was before the COVID lockdowns and the summer of hate.
