Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told his government on Sunday that international leaders who are pushing for elections in the midst of the war are trying to “paralyze the country,” forcing Israel to stop fighting and lose the war.
Netanyahu did not name President Joe Biden explicitly, but spoke in the wake of Biden’s endorsement Friday of an alarming speech Thursday by U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) demanding new elections in Israel to oust Netanyahu.

Based on the unhinged and gnashing of teeth here about foreign aid, I would have thought it would be much more than that.

Back in 2002, the Christian Science Monitor estimated the total cost of foreign aid to Israel at $1.6 trillion.
And that estimate was from 22 years ago.

Either way, I'm opposed to all foreign aid, but this thread is about Israel, a nation unique in the amount and length of time it's received aid money.
Consider
Israel DOES NOT NEED U.S. foreign aid. Israel is an extremely wealthy nation, with its own tech billionaires and tech industries.
Israel has a generous WELFARE STATE, providing free college tuition and universal health care to all its citizens. It can afford this partly because we subsidize its military.
If we eliminated aid to Israel, Israel wouldn't suffer militarily. It need only shift spending from its welfare state to its military.
If the U.S. wanted to give free college education and health care to all its citizens, you'd probably be screaming SOCIALISM! Yet you have no problem with us indirectly subsidizing free college and health care for Israel citizens.
