Cooking on Gas Stoves 100 Times More Dangerous
NewsMax ^ | 3/16/2024 | Nick Koutsobinas

Cooking on a gas stove in a tiny home is 100 times more deadly than leaving the car running in the garage, according to a new study out of Purdue University.

The findings indicate that cooking could lead to the deposition of 10 billion to 1 trillion nano-particles in a person's airways and the tracheobronchial region of the lungs.

My brain is the size of a nanoparticle. Does that count?

How tiny is the home??
Anyway, a decent range vent (which is a good idea regardless) solves the problem.

But we all wear flatulence filters to catch the nano and macro particles. Just check your tidy whities next time you throw them in the washer.

More ‘dangerous’ than what? Eating raw chicken? LOL! These people never stop.

I would suggest if anyone needs new appliances you’d better buy them NOW before they’re all banned!

And buy ELECTRIC because, you know, ELECTRICITY leaves NO carbon footprint whatsoever. *SMIRK*

leaving a car running in the garage is fatal within minutes ... if cooking with gas is 100 times more dangerous than that, does that mean cooking with gas is fatal within seconds?

Fear mongering. I have used natural gas all my life. I Hate electric stoves. And I was in a well head natural gas explosion as a child in 1956. Still don’t fear it.

There are a lot of ‘information writers’ out there who subsist off society’s fears of this or that. Sit home in their little journo-shop and bang out crap on their ‘puter and sell it to MSM or use the MSM’s ‘use’ of their article to push their own monetized websites.

We have used a natural gas cook stove as extra heat source in winter for ..well, butane first 5 years, then 15 years of propane. Natural gas after that. I am 77 years old. I have an unvented natural gas fireplace in my den. Slept well there many a night.
I will admit the fireplace did produce strong fumes when I first tried it. I simply took it apart and drilled an extra air hole in the gas-air mixing line. 20 years ago and no problems.

If it came from a University then it MUST BE TRUE? The entire higher education system needs to be scratched.

It's noteworthy that the article compares gas stove cooking to running a car in the garage. It does NOT compare gas stove cooking with electric stove cooking. "Cooking", particularly frying, releases "particles" regardless of the source of the heat. There is no discussion of this. There easily should have been.

In these days of catalytic converters, with computer-controlled oxygen sensing in the cars, car emissions are miniscule. Comparisons of automobiles to stoves are absurd. Be carful what you advocate, or soon the government will be requiring computer controlled frying pans with catalytic converters.

I got my first gas cooktop about 3 years ago, and they’ll take it from my cold dead hands. And I have a proper vented to the outside hood to remove combustion products from the abode. These Green extremist regulators can kiss my nether regions.

Yeah. Sure. The “researchers” should test their insane ideas.

We live in the soup. There are so many particles in the air from nature thst all terrestrial animals have evolved to break them down in the lungs. Micro particles from natural gas just get broken down and absorbed, they don’t stay there.

“Real” cooks only cook with gas (or an open fire).
