More than 140 House Democrats are demanding that the ability to bar veterans from gun purchases/ownership under certain circumstances be added back to the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act.
For decades, the VA has been reporting veterans to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) for mental issues, and such issues include using a fiduciary to manage one’s VA benefits. But this year, the Clinton-area gun ban was rolled back in the Senate by an amendment put forward by Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA).

Do you go to the VA for health. Have you ever been asked if you have guns?
Settle down, people.
The VA asks questions because veterans suicide more frequently than the general population. They ask all sorts of questions to explore your state of mind in that regard, and owning guns is part of this.
Do you expect to not be able to find or afford food any time in the next year? Do you ever worry about having shelter or be able to manage your affairs to ensure you have shelter? Have you ever thought of suicide? Have you ever bought a gun after such thoughts. Do you already own guns? Would you characterize your state of mind as one of anxiety or calm?
See? And btw, if you don’t want to answer a question just say so — but it would be best if it was not the question — Have you ever thought of suicide? You will not lose your health coverage over choosing not to answer, but it’s a silly thing to do. The question is to keep you alive.
I have absolutely nothing to do with the VA. I get vastly superior health care through the private sector.
BECUASE......................vets tend to be conservative and republicans and are deemed deplorable white nationalist domestic terrorists by the rats
Molan labe’ a-holes.
There’s many reasons I can no longer view democrats as Americans or actual humans. They are something else entirely.
As long as the circumstances are specifically associated with the LGBTQRSTUVWXYZ freak show side of the military I’m for it. They’re psychologically retarded anyway
😎
If any Vets are denied gun ownership and SHTF, many have some they can lend out...
demoNcrats
they line up with the devil
I theoretically have benefits, but I’ve never bothered to do anything about it. 40% disabled results in a pittance that is not worth the hassle.
They’ve still sent me questionnaires with all the probing questions. I’ve just taken the passive aggressive approach and always throw everything in the garbage.
Agreed.
But neither is my annual Ophonybamacare “Wellness Check.”
I depend on my family Doc to “do the right thing” when I see her.
So far, so good! She has been my Doc for 20 years!

Different strokes for different folks. Do what you gotta do!
So far, except for the lengthy paperwork delays, my VA experience has been a positive one.
They would like to ban everyone from purchasing firearms.
I am. Army.
My grandson is an Engineer at Electric Boat. He’s very happy there after 5 years.
The fix is definitely, absolutely, 100% “in”. Why? Because absolutely NOTHING has been done about election integrity since the 2020 theft AND the 2022 thefts. So why would they stop now? It should have been and should be a top priority for Republicans and of course once again they do nothing because the Republican party is as useful as an ice machine in the Arctic.
It’s going to be a hell of a thing to see November 6th Trump got 80 million votes and Biden got 90 million and by then it will be too late knowing that any protests will be met with indictments and lengthy jail time, and any legal complaints will be thrown out of court.
He is seen yearly by the VA for Agent Orange followup. The RN’s in our family feel that he is treated with proper care.
He does his taxes and manages his financial stuff with an adult daughter looking it over. She has a MBA and does her taxes and their businesses.
Back in the 1960s you could buy guns and ammo at the Base exchange. Even on Okinawa.
