New York City is spending about $387 per day per migrant to provide food and shelter to the 64,800 migrants in the city, according to data from NYC City Hall.
February’s number is down $5 from an October count when the city was housing 65,400 migrants. That number peaked in November, hitting $391 per day per migrant. These numbers do not reflect the cost of other services like medical care and education.
“In the last two months, Mayor Adams has laid out plans to save billions of taxpayer dollars as New York City manages a national humanitarian crisis, and the numbers show that our efforts are working,” a City Hall spokesperson told The New York Post Tuesday.
He also said the city expects to “save $2.3 billion by next summer.” Mayor Eric Adams is looking to bring the cost per day per migrant down to $352 by fiscal year 2025.
Adams called on city agencies to cut spending to an initial 5% last November — and then a further 5% in January in response to the migrant crisis.
“Commercial hotels are an incredibly expensive way to provide shelters,” Department of Social Services commissioner Molly Wasow Park said.
The average price for a three-night stay in a New York City hotel is $524.

That's exactly what this dumber-than-manure mayor is trying to do--force the municipal retirees, the most vulnerable group, into Aetna Medicare Advantage plan, to save money off the backs of its retirees, who helped run the city for decades, to hand it to these criminal freeloaders. That plan has a very high rate of denials of claims, leaving people on meager pensions and SS to have to decide on medical care or their rent. The City code has given municipal retirees traditional Medicare and medi-gap private insurance for 50 years. But the utterly corrupt commie union heads and Mayor Dumba** are trying to collaborate to force the retirees into that disastrous Aetna plan. So far, the courts have supported the retirees.
I think it would have been cheaper to build the wall.
My guess is that the social(ist) workers’ union gets about a two thirds cut.

The governors on the border are being allowed to ship the illegals to various cities around the country because DC is not directly impacted by them. The govs should be shipping them to DC. I guarantee the issue would reach critical mass very quickly.

Had they spent $25 billion for the wall like Trump wanted, and another say $30 billion or so deporting illegals, or even say $75 billion, that would d be jusy 100 billion one time payment that would save our nation newrly $1 TRILLION dollars every single year, as that is what it costs to have illegals here committing crimes, murders, robberies, drunk driving murders, etc etc etc when al. Of the costs are added up.
Mind you, we would save that money every single year, so the initial 1 time layment of $100 billion dollar payment would result in saving our nation at least $900 billion every single year
