A woman lost both her feet after her boyfriend allegedly pushed her onto the subway tracks — where she was struck by a train in Manhattan, police sources said.

The victim, 29, was not immediately identified.

The southbound 3 train was pulling into the Fulton Street Station at Chambers Street Saturday at 10:25 a.m. when it hit her, severing her feet, cops said. “They were arguing and he pushed her,” a police source said.

But she won’t.

Where was the National Guard?

Oh wait. They were busy looking through the shopping bags of old white ladies.

As is the case with most domestic violence.

What’s a straphanger?

I don’t think we have them in Tennessee, whatever they are. Never been to N.Y.

I haven’t even been out of Tennessee in 30 years. LOL

From the article:

The man fled from the station after pushing her and was being sought, cops said.
Less than an hour later, a man jumped onto the tracks in Midtown and was fatally struck by a train, cops said.

What’s a straphanger?

That's the question BART subway asked when BART first opened in the early 1970's in the SF/Oakland area. There were no straps to hang onto, because the politicians promised there would be seats for every rider. Nope. People were falling over unless they grabbed onto other riders. Years later, they finally placed handholds on setbacks and overhead straps to hang onto.

We stay well away from the platform edge, too many people have been shoved onto tracks.

Thanks! I have seen those on TV. It makes sense. I didn’t know they had a name.

An antiquated term for someone who rides the subway. There used to be straps hanging down inside the subway cars to hold onto for those who had to stand. Now it’s just metal bars and poles to hang onto.

BART took their time installing overhead straps. Now they went overboard with the new cars, straps everywhere.

Not something we have here unless there is a subway in Nashville.

My little town (Athens) doesn’t even have a shopping mall. The local Walmart has an open-air building to tie up horses and horses and buggies if they haven’t started using it for something else. I see several tied to light poles in the parking lot.

I got behind a man on a horse in a fast-food drive-thru once and saw a cop pull over a Mennonite buggy for speeding through town. 🙄

I live in a time warp so sometimes I have to ask really dumb questions!

I bet you haven't seen this on TV. SF artist shows an alternate use of straps.

Good visual! I can’t imagine riding in one of those especially if it’s crowded.
