The Persecution of Donald Trump Means Turning Ordinary Activities Into Crimes
American Thinker ^ | 25 Feb, 2024 | Vince Coyner

Like millions of Americans before me, I’ve done exactly what Donald Trump did; namely, sought a loan based upon my best estimate of what my property was worth—and I didn’t look to what the tax assessor said in reaching that value. However, as part of the Democrats’ lawfare, Letitia James twisted a perfectly ordinary act into something evil, and a partisan judge put his imprimatur on her efforts. If it’s allowed to stand, the results will be devastating, not just for the political class but also for normal Americans.

In December 2020, I had to put my home on the market and move 1,000 miles away. Two months before, I’d considered refinancing my mortgage, and the bank gave me a valuation of $285,000. I thought it probably should have been higher, but didn’t really feel like taking the time to investigate because I wasn’t really that worried about it.

That changed in December when I was forced to worry about it. So, I reached out to a realtor friend (an actual realtor, not a guy with a side gig) and asked him to give me an estimate. He thought the house would probably sell for about $305,000, maybe $315,000 tops. Again, I was skeptical, so I started doing my own research. I looked at my community, what was available in my county, and what comparable houses were selling for. I also took note of the neighborhoods, roadways, schools, etc. After all of that, I estimated my house was worth about $400,000. I thought it could sell for $415,000 or even a bit more.

We put it on the market at $405,000 and, ten days later, it was sold with the buyers offering $395,000. We eventually settled for $400,000. I was confident it could have sold for more...

This is why those falsely accusing Trump need to be charged in some fashion. Same thing you’d do for a swatting call.

Don’t be fooled by language meant to deter this like “revenge” or “settling scores”.

It’s actually called justice.

I refinanced my first house many years ago. They asked me what it was worth. I gave them the assessed value. They sent an assessor and actually increased the value. I just let the finance guys do the finance stuff. If it looks and feels reasonable, I go with it.

The judge must have OK'ed this hatchet job before the fact. This was coordinated. Uncover evidence of that. Then a better tactic would be to pursue charges of judicial misconduct against the judge. Impeachment would be great.

If the judiciary keeps this kind if garbage up, then we need some Amendments doing away with lifetime tenure for judges. Let them campaign just like anyone else for a two- or four- year term. They have ruined the legal profession and obliterated our trust in the courts; now it is time for them to pay.

Engoron drew weird ⁢conclusions that were based on evidence that was undisputed.
<><>There were ⁤no victims of Trump’s alleged fraud,
<><>and no losses resulted from it
<><>The lenders who made the loans performed their ⁢own valuations,
<><>they were fully paid back, and made significant‌ profits.‌
<><>They‌ were satisfied with Trump and wanted to continue doing business with him.

In a sane world, that would have been the end of it. ⁢But Democrat New Yorker, Engoron, engaged in legal gymnastics ....w/ a rarely used form⁣ of “equitable” relief called “disgorgement” ⁢to prevent Trump from keeping what Engeron alleged are “ill-gotten gains.”

Engoron overvalued ‌Trump’s gains to an absurd extent, surpassing anything Trump was accused of.
<><>Engoron ordered ‍Trump to disgorge $168 million
<><>so-called interest payment “savings” that he supposedly gained from certain loans.
<><>Engoron suggested Trump preyed on lenders
<><>that Trump got “lower interest rates‍” using recourse loans compared to non-recourse ⁣loans.

Recourse loans provide more security for lenders ⁣and therefore have lower‍ interest rates compared to non-recourse loans.

Engoron’s calculation of ⁤disgorgement was based on a⁣ false comparison between the two types of⁣ loans,⁢ resulting in a grossly overvalued amount.

Engoron could have used a proper ‍economic analysis to‍ calculate Trump’s alleged gains accurately. ⁢However,⁤ doing so would have resulted in zero “ill-gotten ‌gains”‌ for Trump.

The interest rates Trump obtained were based on⁢ the lenders’ own valuations, not Trump’s.‌ Therefore, Engoron’s $168 million disgorgement calculation was falsely overvalued by the full amount.

Are these leftist judges and prosecutors practicing real estate and accounting and assessing without licenses?

This persecution of Trump is all the result of Marxist Dems trying to gain control of the Gov’t.

I paid over asking price to make sure I got the property. Now what...will I be sued by those who offered lower because my white privilege allowed me to go higher? Just how many people did I defraud? I was happy with the deal and so was the bank. The property has increased significantly in value in the short time I owned it. Will the previous owner now sue because in retrospect they should have held out for a higher offer?

If Trump is able to win the election by overcoming the massive election fraud that no doubt will be coming because the RINOpublican party refuses to do anything about it, and he appoints a valid Attorney general, could charges be brought against Letitia James for abusing her office? For example she campaigned that she was “going to get Trump” even though she had no cause to do so. Blatant political bias.

what will REALLY be interesting is when the “new” valuation of Mara lago for tax purposes is challenged by the county tax assessor. that will be a popcorn worthy event.

I think charges would have to be from a Republican AG in a state that has standing to allege a crime happened. Since they used Mar-A-Lago as part of a fraudulent criminal charge against a Florida resident that this is the best way to charge James.

I like Turley’s assessment that the integrity of the NY bar is on the line. If the NY justice system backs the communist AG and her hack puppet judge, NY will be exposed as a thoroughly corrupt system. I also like Trump’s argument to blacks that he is experiencing the injustice of a rigged system that they have suffered.

When your goal is to destroy Western civilization, the economies of which are based on free markets, everything the Left is doing makes perfect sense.

What the Left doesn't realize is something that Maggie Thatcher pointed out so clearly, "Socialism/Marxism works until you run out of other people's money."

Whether one is "running out of it" or just destroying it, the results are the same.
