Draft RNC resolution would slow the party’s embrace of Trump as the nominee

COLUMBIA, S.C. — A prominent Republican National Committee member is proposing two resolutions that would put some distance between the national party and former President Donald Trump — at least for a little bit longer.

The first resolution from Henry Barbour — a longtime member from Mississippi — would prohibit the national party from coordinating with Trump or fundraising with his campaign until he wins enough delegates to be the party’s presumptive nominee.

The draft resolution, in part, states: “The Republican National Committee and its leadership will stay neutral throughout the Presidential primary and not take on additional staff from any of the active Presidential campaigns until a nominee is clearly determined by reaching 1,215 delegates.”

Although Trump has won all of the Republican Party’s primaries and caucuses so far, former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley has insisted that she plans to stay in the race awhile longer.

Trump has already proposed that his current campaign co-manager, Chris LaCivita, take the reins of the RNC as its chief operating officer. This proposed resolution would slow down the process of Trump’s team effectively taking over the RNC.

Unlike the Biden campaign and the DNC, the Trump campaign and the RNC have yet to launch a joint fundraising committee, which allows the two entities to better coordinate and advance mutual financial interests.

The Trump campaign released a statement Saturday expressing its disapproval of Barbour's measure.

“The primary is over and it is the RNC’s sole responsibility to defeat Joe Biden and win back the White House," LaCivita said. "Efforts to delay that assist Joe Biden in the destruction of our nation. Republicans cannot stand on the sidelines and allow this to happen.”

Barbour is also proposing a second resolution that would bar the RNC from paying Trump’s legal bills.

A lot of turncoat “republicans” like Barbour come out of Mississippi. Roger Wicker, current senator, always sides with McConnell. And in 1976, the state party chairman, Clark Reed, tossed the deciding votes of the Mississippi delegation to Jerry Ford to defeat Reagan at the convention.

America First and Make America Great, again, are truly frightening phrases, to these globalists.

It’s a pretty big mistake, IMO. In the past, the RNC has slickly coaxed money from erstwhile MAGAs by featuring (very prominently, I’d add) his picture, words and other representations in their direct mail ads and donation requests.

It should also be pointed out that it was often very difficult to immediately see just “who” is begging for donations, i.e., the RNC overall or one of its lickspittle suborganizations, the RN Senatorial Campaign Committee, for example. As it is right now, I’d not give a plugged nickel to them.

Good old Hayley Barbour; the one who pushed Dole to run against Clinton. . . I haven’t given a penny to the RNC since then.

Why the RNC is still operating is beyond me. Most thinking people haven’t given them a dime since the 1980s.

If we’re lucky the GOP will FAFO and Trump will go 3rd party. That would relegate the GOP to 3rd party status.

The RNC is broke and will remain broke until Trump is in charge and gets to decide how the money is spent. Everyone should just donate directly to the Trump campaign.

IF the RNC thinks that any strong Republican voter will send them as much as a dime-—they are wrong.

They have no plans-—no spine—and no respect from most of us.

"The first resolution from Henry Barbour — a longtime member from Mississippi — would prohibit the national party from coordinating with Trump or fundraising with his campaign until he wins enough delegates to be the party’s presumptive nominee."

OUT! President Trump, demand a majority emergency call of the RNC, it can be done remotely. PUNCH DOWN ON THIS MISSISSIPPI TOE TAPPER...

"The Republican National Committee may meet by telephone conference call or by another method that enables all participants to simultaneously hear each other and have the opportunity for recognition similar to a regular in-person meeting pursuant to Rule No. 8(b) when authorized by a three-fourths (3/4) vote of the Executive Committee of the Republican National Committee in case of emergency. Other authorization for electronic meetings may be allowed elsewhere in these rules. Any conflicting language in the rules shall defer to this rule."

Draft resolution by conservative voters indicates we stay home Election Day so the useless RINOs from Senate to dog catcher races can go pound sand to the unemployment lines

They don't care. They have jobs lined up with lobbying firms and other companies who have a "rescue a homeless politician" policy.

They would take it in order to get rid of the threat of someone who is not a member of the club upsetting their little red wagon.

The RNC is under the management of the DNC. It seems obvious. Real republicans need to clean house at the RNC.
