The city of Chicago on Tuesday sued six major oil companies and the primary fossil fuel lobbying group, alleging they funded and planned a campaign of climate change denial that directly affects the city’s residents.
In the lawsuit, the city accused BP, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Exxon Mobil, Phillips 66, Shell, and the American Petroleum Institute (API) of misleading the public about the impact of their products and of contributing to the effects of climate change on Chicago.
These impacts include unsafe summer temperatures, an increase in extreme weather, shoreline erosion and susceptibility to disasters such as flash flooding in basements on the city’s West Side, according to the lawsuit. As a result, the city says, climate mitigation and response projects in low-income communities have cost it nearly $200 million.

The same strategy worked on the cigarette companies. Government collected big fines. The left wants to bust out the oil companies.
I watched a very interesting documentary about cigs on one of the streaming services. It was about biologist hired by a cig company to find a way to make cigs less addictive. By accident the biologist found that by rearranging the ingredients in cigs, he made them 10 times more addictive. After reporting the results to a meeting of execs, they gave him a standing ovation.

Gas companies should respond by refusing to see any gas in Chicago.

Exactly right. That is the single BIGGEST difference from our founding through the 1950s or 1960s. The numbers of people who believe in God or are part of a church are rapidly dwindling. The church response to those dwindling congregations? Adopt more “liberation theology” i.e., hardcore marxism.
And the doom loop accelerates.

Not their fault if Chi Town chooses to waste money on an imaginary problem. I do hope all these companies suspend all deliveries of their products to Ill annoy.
