MSNBC host Joy Reid lamented that black Americans have not received sufficient reparations for “literally, physically” building this country, believing that former President Barack Obama’s eight-year tenure is the best they will get.
Reid issued her comments during an interview on Salon Talks with writer Dean Obeidallah wherein she said that black people “literally, physically, built this country” and therefore deserve much more than a two-term black president.

Or the million Irish that were used when jobs were too dangerous for costly slaves. The Irish, many, were worked to death to build something. Funny. The Irish were so mistreated many worked their way into law enforcement hence the stereotype.

Funny, and a whole lot truer than Reid’s rant.
When set free, many just stayed where they were. Most slaves were expensive and hence were valuable to be taken care of. Free - they had to go the sharecroppers route which was brutal life. Most of us Southern heritage have most of our family tree full of sharecroppers, miners, loggers …. Most died fairly young. The south was never full of white plantation owners living off black slaves. It was a few working the poor whites to early deaths.

Both of Reid’s parents were not American citizens. Her father was from the Congo and her mother was from Guyana. Foreign exchange students who benefited from being educated in the USA. They did not build anything here.
Joy Reid ought to be a ashamed of herself, but she is such faker. She is entitled to nothing.

Back in the day, the fact is that black people were barred from many jobs.
The central theme of Dr Martin Luther King’s civil rights movement was right to work which seems to be forgotten piece of history.

Not precisely germaine, but part of my story. In a former life a friend and I, who grew up on neighboring farms worked at a Fortune 500 co; he as Chief Industrial Designer and I as a Mfg. Engr. One day he and I were reminiscing that a few years prior he and I had been walking around in cow manure. When the VP of sales walked up and asked what we were discussing, we frankly told him. He said, “Boys, never be ashamed of where you came from. My father came from Italy to Chicago, and worked in a factory sewing pockets in overcoats. And look at us now.” Methinks Ms. Reid is so full of crap her eyes are brown!
Let’s see: he set race relations back about 1000 years, not to mention increasing our national debt, and curbed our liberties 🗽.
