Putin is once again telling Russians to have more babies, and this time he's saying ethnic survival is at stake

Russian President Vladimir Putin is feeling the heat from a demographic crunch.

He's calling on Russians to have more babies to preserve their ethnicity, Reuters reported on Thursday.

"If we want to survive as an ethnic group β€” well, or as ethnic groups inhabiting Russia β€” there must be at least two children," Putin said at a tank factory, according to the news agency.

It's not enough just for each family to have one kid β€” because Russia's population would contract, Putin said, while issuing conflicting statements on how many kids families need to have.

"In order to expand and develop, you need at least three children," said Putin, per Reuters.

Russia was in a demographic crisis even before it invaded Ukraine in February 2022.

The country's population was 146.4 million at the beginning of 2023 β€” down from nearly 149 million in 1993, according to official statistics. However, this is up a low of around 143 million in the early 2010s.

The war is taking a toll on the population: Between 150,000 and 190,000 Russian soldiers have been killed or wounded in the war against Ukraine, the UK's Ministry of Defence wrote in an intelligence update in October.

“...told his citizens he cares enough about them to want more of them. I wish Americans could get that from our garbage establishment...”

The exact opposite from the Globohomo Regimes in the West.

They want to downsize the earth’s population overall. And completely destroy their Heritage populations in particular.

This seems to be a problem in many countries.

The recent report from South Korea indicated that the average number of children is an incredibly low 0.78 children per woman in her reproductive lifetime.

Why does this happen? Why are these rates of childbirth so low?

Is it because so many women are far more interested in career than marriage and family?

Is it because birth control is so reliable and effective that most women choose to have far fewer children than previous generations had a choice to do?

Is it because many women are bypassing marriage and family all together?

Is it because so many women spend Peak fertility years in their twenties and into their 30s building a career, so that when they finally do have children, they end up having fewer children in their reproductive lifetime than they would have otherwise?

In Russia and other countries, are many women just so damn depressed about the future, that they can’t see bring a child into a world they think is doomed?

I'll take their side. It's a lot of work to get married and to raise children in a family.

So I can see why many women are saying no thanks.

> Putin is largely responsible for grinding up both sides. <

Putin ordered his tanks to cross a sovereign border. He has blood on his hands, and is a war criminal. I have mentioned that many times here on FR.

However, NATO has a long history of provoking Russia. The provocation might have been just due to stupidity, or deliberate. Nevertheless, the provocation existed. I have also mentioned that many times.

As I see it, there are no good guys here.

It’s not changing the topic. The number of deaths caused by our govt is outrageous. Not to mention these wars do not even directly effect our country. We are all over the globe.

Had we not interfered by pushing Ukraine to join nato, this would not have happened. Same with Georgia. Surely they must have known this? I love our country. The people running it… not at all. I refuse point fingers when we are conducting ourselves far more aggressively. It’s pure hypocrisy.

Pumping out babies worldwide is the SOP of Islam. Doesn’t matter how many die in poverty. They’re grist for the mill.

Ans the US, through the UN, of course, is there to help them pump out as many babies as possible, especially in the ME.

Maybe if Russia could just, uh, stop attacking & invading its neighbors, we wouldn’t be talking about Russia so much

Maybe?

Why do poor countries have higher birthrates?

Why have birthrates gone down as countries have gotten richer? Like China, and Korea.

Why, in the same country, and in the same ethnic group, do poor people have higher birthrates?

Here’s what I figure. You wont be able to answer these questions. And youre wrong when you say its all about money.

It is about the money.

As countries develop economically women become “independent” which means they can make their own money and not get stuck “back on the farm” barefoot and pregnant.

Farmers need kids to work on the farm—so they are an asset there.

If you pay women enough they will have children. Nobody has gotten radical about it—yet.

He’s right. The same is true of the entire developed world. Japan, America, Europe, Australia, everywhere.

It’s called demographic transition; nations going from underdeveloped, agrarian poor societies to modern industrial urban ones. It’s a necessary change to improve your quality of living, but it’s also self genocide

I’ll be bashed for this but the old ways of most women being homemakers and the government not playing the role of the man in the household was better from a standpoint of civilizational survival.

Women were far more practical about the men they would choose....picking an alcoholic or loser with no prospects could put them and their kids in a terrible position. They also didn’t waste their 20s only to be surprised they could no longer attract good men in their 30s after all their youth was gone like happens so often now.

People tended to stay married and the birthrate was high enough to actually make the population grow.

No it wasn’t perfect and there were people who were put in really bad positions sometimes, but society as a whole was healthier than it is now.

Talk is cheap. You want more Russian babies start paying the parents big bucks. Money talks, everything else walks.

You're a bigger Communist than Russia ever was.
