The judge who presided over a civil business fraud trial against Donald Trump and his company has issued his decision in the case.
Judge Arthur Engoron ordered the former president and the Trump Organization to pay over $364 million in damages, and bars Trump "from serving as an officer or director of any New York corporation or other legal entity in New York for a period of three years."
The judgment is the second this year against Trump after he was hit last month with an $83.3 million verdict in writer E. Jean Carroll's defamation case against him. The former president could also face four criminal trials this year as his presidential campaign barrels toward the November election, with the first set to begin in New York state court on March 25th.
New York Attorney General Letitia James had been seeking $370 million from Trump, his company and its top executives, including his sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, alleging "repeated and persistent fraud" that included falsifying business records and financial statements. James had argued those financial statements were at times exaggerated by as much as $2.2 billion.

A caller on the local afternoon talk show here in DC proposed that the various Republican AGs sue the banks and other investors who floated Pres. Trump the loan for lack of due diligence which might have affected all the banks’ customers. He suggested that $1 Trillion would be enough to get their attention, so they would scramble to show that they did do that in Trump’s case.
Why is everyone so confident in the appeals process?
you are certainly correct that the trials are rigged, but the lawyers could have done a better job and in the process of doing so exposed everyone involved in these hit jobs for the hacks they are better IMO.
It’s not ex post facto. It’s been on the books as far back as Westlaw has online search capability, so at least since the mid 1980s.
“Illegal law” - um whatnow?
And abuse of civil rights under color of law? No way. First off you can’t sue a court for doing court-stuff. Losing a civil court case is not actionable. Sue the AG? Laughed out of court, she won her case.
Repukes are cowards. This will NEVER happen in reverse and that’s exactly why it’s able to happen to begin with. Notice that they havent and will never impeach Biden. Same deal.
Well said. We definitely know the justices as a group, under Robert's "leadership", refuse to make decisions remotely brave as the 2001 group ruling against Gore. "Brave Sir Robin rides away."
If they refuse to stand up to this obvious hateful and evil attempt to destroy the rightful President of our nation who dares to fight them back I will have a problem hearing their cries for help when an enraged nation responds.
They boggle my mind trying to game the system while never considering the pendulum always sways back. Like a scythe.
lol.
I said something untrue in the post?
It is already in shambles whilst “Tish” diddles.
Interesting, hadn’t thought about excessive fines since this isn’t a criminal case. I’m not up enough on this topic, do you know if the 8th Amendment has ever been applied to a civil case?
Of course, that is conceding that there should be a fine in the first place, only arguing that it is excessive.
Just looked up Capterton real quick, not familiar with that case, but it seems to me to be about recusal. Even if it were to apply to an AG, it doesn’t seem to vindicate Trump per se, just that James couldn’t be the prosecutor (much like down in Georgia right now).
Trump won’t pay jack sh*t

You’re right.
pissant
“Tish’s” Ego.
Since you say you are a practicing lawyer answer me this….if the appeals court rule against him can he take it to the SC? Simple answer …yes it no? What are his options?
The New York State Assembly and Senate recently passed legislation proposed by the New York Attorney General (“NYAG”) establishing a six-year statute of limitations for claims brought under the Martin Act and New York Executive Law § 63(12). This legislation comes almost exactly one year after a landmark decision by the New York Court of Appeals holding that Martin Act and Executive Law § 63(12) actions were subject to a three-year statute of limitations
You think holding someone liable for something that happened in 2017 & 2018, when the statute of limitations was 3 years, then changing the statute of limitations to 6 years so you can sue him in 2023 for it is kosher?
Now Donald Trump knows what it feels like to be a Mafia Don in court where everyone against you. But, unlike the mafia, he can’t have his enemies wracked. Every juror, Judge and court person selected because they are ardent Democrats and hate trump with all of their heart. It is a kangaroo court with only one judgement—GUILT! Trump would do better in a Soviet People’s Court. Only ruling—”Off with his Head!” (or a sentence where his cellmate can “help him” hang himself). Trump is DONE. BUT, he is protected by a strange supernatural force. Have you notice—all who work against Trump end up failing? He has powerful friends in this world and the next. Looks like Trump is on a Mission from God. Nothing can stand in his way.
War Room Just showed Trump live and he is ticked off major!!! (as he should be!)
