neoCON crony ‘capitalists’ who grift off the MIC aren’t going to like it.
Good idea considering we’re bankrupt.
Foreign aid is a money laundering racket.
BTTT
It’s common sense.
I thought much that has gone to Ukraine was a "loan"...hmmmm...I'll have to go back.
No country the US gives an aid “loan” to would ever repay it, so what would be the difference?
We can loan other countries money or send them charity in the form of disaster relief but the idea of just doling out money to all and sundry is a bad one. And why are we borrowing money to give aid to India so they can give it to someone else?
That... makes no sense at all.
How about neither?
He said interest free and without a timeline.
Does anyone think Ukraine would ever pay anything back?
$34 trillion
No difference. The idea is crap.
The savings from foreign aid should go to social security.
Bright idea!
but—— isn’t that what China has been doing for years? Sucker resource rich countries into ‘borrowing’ huge sums for pie in the sky projects,,,,, and then foreclosing on resources that they wanted.
>What do y’all think of this?<
President Trump sounds like Pat Buchanan and Ron Paul.
I love it.
It does make sense if you’re the bureaucrat or politician (or via their kids/other relatives) getting kickbacks from that money. In my book that’s stealing taxpayer money and if done by a politician or federal employee needs to result in their public hanging as a warning to others thinking to do the same.
Apparently Russia does. A credit check on Russia shows they are good for a loan. :)
.
"Lend Lease claims against the former Soviet Union arising from World War II were settled in a 1972 agreement between the U.S. and U.S.S.R. In the 1972 agreement, the U.S.S.R. pledged to make three initial payments totaling $48 million and to repay the remaining Lend Lease debt once the United States had granted Most Favored Nations (MFN) trade status.
The Soviet Union made the three initial downpayments, but because it did not obtain MFN status at that time -- because of conditions set forth in the 1974 Trade Act -- its obligation to make the remaining payments toward its Lend Lease debt was not triggered before the dissolution of the U.S.S.R. However, MFN status was extended to the Russian Federation in 1992, and accordingly, in 1993, Russia signed an agreement with the U.S. in which it acknowledged its liability and agreed to a repayment schedule for the former U.S.S.R.'s Lend Lease debt."

Sounds good to me, though I would say, no more “aid” or “loans”, period.
It isn't our job and it isn't Constitutional to be daddy warbucks to the world giving away money we have to borrow. In fact, it is downright stupid.
