Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene called for a "national divorce" between red and blue states amid the escalating standoff over migration at the Texas border.
The Georgia congressman responded to a post on X listing Democratic-leaning states that have sided with the federal government in the dispute with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.
"When I said we need a National Divorce this is exactly what I'm talking about and a serious example as to why," Greene wrote.
Greene's national divorce idea is not new — she has often suggested splitting up the United States along political lines— but it is divisive. It has drawn criticism even from fellow Republicans.
The dispute between Abbott and the federal government has been intensifying after the Lone Star state's governor said he would continue to install razor wire at the border to deter migrants from entering from Mexico.
The Supreme Court ruled 5-4 in favor of the federal government this week, saying the US Border Patrol could remove wire put up by the Texas National Guard, but this has not deterred Abbott from ordering them to defend it.

It will only work if each side has the right to exile people from their territory. Otherwise the leftist will infiltrate the Red States.
The blue/red areas on the Oregon map don’t appear to be counties. Looks like a solid blue blob around Port Orford, but that’s in Curry County, a solid red area.
It is a map by precinct.
That makes sense. I remember being in Port Awful between the 2008 election and the inauguration of Zero, and some hippy food store had a big plywood sign that read “1-20-2009 Barack and Joe begin the healing.” It made me nauseous.
This is a deceptive map, since it shows THE LAND AREA OF COUNTIES by POPULATION, whereas most of the population is in the cities in much smaller geographic areas.
I hope I’m making sense to some people, because this type of map keeps appearing on FR again and again.
Because they’re just waiting for red staters to develop affinity for such a fight, while assets like MTG egg them on.
What better excuse to round up all possible “dissidents”?
but it is divisive
Yeah? GNS! Divorce usually is...
” This is a deceptive map, since it shows THE LAND AREA OF COUNTIES by POPULATION, ...”
No, you are not making any sense. It is a map to physical scale by precinct. And it shows who won the most votes in that precinct.

It’s a bad idea as it doesn’t solve the fundamental problem.
Better to go through the American Revolution 2.0 to rid the wealthy from government and politics. They’re too disconnected from the common man to be involved in either.
To avoid geographical separation, we need monetary separation. Stop welfare, federal grants, all this free money to the progressives aimed at destroying our constitution. Finally get rid of the department of education, and so many more federal departments that are unnecessary and working against our government. Cut their money, all of it.
Perhaps the Articles of Confederation were not so bad.
Exactly. We want the land too.
I agree, its the big cities, if there is a split cities like Itica and NYCity will split away, LA SF will split off, Chicago etc. it will be more a balkanization than a this state or that state.
Agree, but that’s good land inwouodnt want to just give the commies.
I stand with MTG and our RED states. Time to kick Mordor on the Potomac out of our lives.
Texans do some research on #TEXIT and join the cause. It is a just cause.
Because of these stunts the democrats are pulling on the border. Kick out these illegals and liberals and Texas culture will prevail.
The course for Texas to follow after the divorce is to find and exile all the Blue traitors within. Gather the miscreants and ship them to Califirnia
It would make no sense to allow the entire West Coast to separate from the nation, for example, when all of the trouble stems from a few square miles of urban insanity. It doesn't make sense today to let a few square miles of Chicago rule Illinois. Let those areas 'secede' into new states, and pass all the tyrannical laws they want.
25 + states have already indicated serious support for ABBOTT.
IF it gets much worse-—What would prevent Texas from seceding & other states joining in?
IT is getting that testy already.
