Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene calls for 'national divorce' between red and blue states amid Texas border standoff over migration

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene called for a "national divorce" between red and blue states amid the escalating standoff over migration at the Texas border.

The Georgia congressman responded to a post on X listing Democratic-leaning states that have sided with the federal government in the dispute with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.

"When I said we need a National Divorce this is exactly what I'm talking about and a serious example as to why," Greene wrote.

Greene's national divorce idea is not new — she has often suggested splitting up the United States along political lines— but it is divisive. It has drawn criticism even from fellow Republicans.

The dispute between Abbott and the federal government has been intensifying after the Lone Star state's governor said he would continue to install razor wire at the border to deter migrants from entering from Mexico.

The Supreme Court ruled 5-4 in favor of the federal government this week, saying the US Border Patrol could remove wire put up by the Texas National Guard, but this has not deterred Abbott from ordering them to defend it.

The blue states want to be progressive/communist, and the read want to be part of a constitutional republic, so, it’s quite obvious that the union is no more, and a separation needs to happen.

Beside, democrats have openly said that, the constitution needs to be scrapped and redone. So, without the original constitution as our center of laws, the country needs to be dissolved.

A geographic separation is absurd. There are rifts within many States. Texas could be “blue” in a decade.

I’d be in favor if it could be broken down to the County level.

No way is upstate NY “blue” except for Ithica; like wise PA is—to quote James Carville—”Philadelphia and Pittsburgh with Kentucky in the middle”.

Blue city-states had better prepare for starvation.

John Caldwell Calhoun sent out the warning long ago.

Too many didn’t listen.

It was naivety to ever believe the original concept would continue to work ad infinitum. Nothing ever does on this earth.

Blue cities with ocean access will not starve.

Virginia is vacillating between red and blue. Gonna flip a coin? Maybe split into North, South and East Virginia?

There are rifts within many States.

After a very bloody 30-year civil war in 1618-1648, Germans could not resolve their differences and the country broke up into about 200 individual city-states. Perhaps something like that is in the future of the United States.

Served 4 years USAF even before I became a citizen. I learned that there were two types of people — damn Yankees and f’n Rebels. But i noticed more unity between the two than there is now. America was so much more beautiful then.

I agree. I can’t stand the “other side”. I hate them. I cannot coexist with them. They are subhuman scum. Let’s get to what we all know is inevitable.

Many of the “blue states” actually seem to be mainly red states with “blue big cities” whose left-leaning voting population overwhelm the rest of the state, propped up by a compliant leftist media (Chicago vs. Illinois, Portland vs. Oregon, for example. That’s where the real split might lie.

Good post. See my #15. I think we already have something like that with “blue big cities” overwhelming the red or red-leaning rest of their states.

Send everyone who professes to be liberal/socialist to the West Coast. Then wall it off and let them build their utopia. The rest of the country is then run as it’s supposed to be run. Let’s see who lasts the longest.

Well, well, well.

I have never seen wide spread session spelled "national divorce."

I have seen session described as impossible, suicidal, horrific, etc but never have I seen or heard of it being merely "divisive."

Perhaps here at the Battle of Eagle Pass we are seeing "the end of the beginning."

---------------------

Actually, Democrats lost a bunch of South Texas counties in 2020.

Red areas are mostly contiguous. The Democrat enclaves are either on the coasts, or surrounded.
