A CVS store in Columbia Heights that has been plagued by robberies is closing its doors after struggling with months of near-constant crime that left shelves empty.
"We’ve made the difficult decision to close our store at 3031 14th St. NW in Columbia Heights on Feb. 29. All prescriptions will be transferred to the nearby CVS Pharmacy at 1755 Columbia Rd. NW. to ensure patients have uninterrupted access to pharmacy care," said in a statement to FOX 5.

WASHINGTON - A CVS store in Columbia Heights that has been plagued by robberies is closing its doors after struggling with months of near-constant crime that left shelves empty.
"We’ve made the difficult decision to close our store at 3031 14th St. NW in Columbia Heights on Feb. 29. All prescriptions will be transferred to the nearby CVS Pharmacy at 1755 Columbia Rd. "Maintaining access to pharmacy services in the communities we serve is an important factor we consider when making store closure decisions. Other factors include local market dynamics, population shifts, a community’s store density, and ensuring there are other geographic access points to meet the needs of the community," the statement continued.
They add that all employees at the store are being offered "comparable roles" within the company.

The result? "Activists" protested saying it was racist to close the store. The owner went out of business.
If it’s racist white flight when whites leave an area, and racist gentrification when whites move to an area ... you might be a Democrat. LOL

The Columbia Rd NW location is in Adams-Morgan...not nearly as a problem as the one they’re shuttering.

Reparations.
Having been in Retail Management for a good chunk of my working life (18 years!) I really feel for what these people are going through.
I worked for two major, local companies during those years and dealt with ‘The General Public’ on a daily basis and NEVER felt unsafe in the workplace. Ever.
I can’t imagine working under those conditions. I don’t blame CVS at all. Can you imagine what the ramifications would be for them if one of their employees were shot/killed or taken hostage for drugs on hand? Yikes!
Hey! Here’s an idea! Close ALL the storefronts for everything and make everyone shop via the internet or over the phone. Man, would that cut the overhead! ;)
Yeah, I don’t really want to see that...but what IS the solution in this Godless, Soulless society of ours these days?

Crime will just move to new store. Simple. Move it to West Virginia if they want it to be safe.
What are the high school slobs going to do for lunchtime fun once they close all of the CVS and Walgreen’s pharmacies?

...right now. But it will be interesting to see how long this store can survive, now that the ‘locals’ are being directed to it.

Amazon and US Post Office trucks would become the next targets of opportunity. So maybe the best solution really does come from those rooftop Koreans.
Oh, wait. The rooftop Koreans did their thing back in 1992. The city understood. Try it now, and SWAT would be deployed. But not against the rioters. Against the property defenders.
I sees the problem: Colombia heights. Just change it to Obama heights. Problem solved.
I wonder what the Demographics are in this “Food Desert” in the Nation’s Capital?
One solution would be to have a rolling pharmacy - a tractor trailer that rolled into the open-air prison / insane asylum / illegal alien camp in the morning and then left in the afternoon.
Closing during black history month?

Funny, in predominately White areas, CVS is profitable.
Must be more of that White Supremacy we hear so much about. White People are just too good to go shoplifting, looting and burning stores, is my take away.
Ah, yes, the new and improved 14th Street, with residential, office and retail — and bike lanes!
Public transportation helps make that happen.
