The U.S. and the Soviet Union were actually on friendly terms when it came to free passage on the open seas. The 1956 Suez Canal Crisis, for example, saw an odd set of bedfellows where Israel, Great Britain and France were opposed by Egypt, the U.S., and the Soviet Union.

But since the Soviet Union fell the United States has been backing away from the role of maintaining peace and trade.

After the Soviet Union fell, the U.S. government has effectively been owned by competing Islamic factions -- between the Sunnis (the Bush/Cheney/McCain cabal) and the Shi'ites (the Democrats).

This strike is no surprise.

Well, it take time to coordinate the placement of empty target tents.

Biden has to get re-elected and war is an option.

As a combat veteran, I will NEVER understand the phrase “Proportional response”. They kill one of ours, we kill one of theirs? What bullshit!!!!!

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Totally agree.
“Proportional response” is an insult to intelligence.
Any response should be according to an objective eliminating the threat.
If attacked “conventionally”, the defender has the right to use all necessary means at its disposal, except for WMD’s.

So, there is no info at all on any projected damage assessment? Interesting.

I remember when “proportionate response” meant one had run out of targets.

“ Biden’s handlers took the Houthis off the USA’s designated terrorist list in 2021.‘

Yes, that was when he put white, middle class Americans on the list.

I think the game is declare war, diaper man stays in office, suspending elections, this gives enough time for the sham trials to convict. End game for the man who should be our President. He kept us out of this sort of stuff.

The ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran-backed militias began in late 2023. It includes the U.S. Navy fighting against drone attacks on American warships and other vessels by armed groups of the Houthi movement. The U.S. military says there have been more than two dozen attacks in the last seven weeks. The most serious attack was Tuesday when Houthis fired more than 20 drones and missiles at U.S. and allied warships.

Weakness causes wars.

/\ This. If Trump had remained in office, no Ukraine war, no Hamas attack and no Houthi/Iran attacks.

Instead we got all the mewling, puking Obamabots back in.

American vessels on the high seas outside Yemen’s territorial waters have been attacked several times already.

So, this Dweeb here (me) looks at this and comes to this conclusion. The #JihadJunta staged a Coup d’etat in America in 2020 and installed a generic prop (“Joe”) whoever he is, to thoroughly destabilize the USA. We are attacking the surrogates of Iran by responding to attacks WE FINANCED through the same Jihadists here in the USA. (Barry Sotero, Valarie Jarrett, Ahmed Brennan, and others) who finagled the transfer of billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars to the Mullahs. So how does Iran respond to our response from their Red Sea attacks? Stay tuned.

Wouldn’t it make more sense to sink the Iranian spotter vessel in the Red Sea first, and then sink an Iranian vessel for every attack their proxies launch thereafter?

As to Suez, the United States was trying to disassemble the imperial system that had given us world wars one and two. The fact that the Soviet Union benefited from free trade had nothing to do with relations. It wasn’t friendly. The US and the Soviets were fighting a cold war. Their subs followed our ships, and our subs followed their subs. Sometimes they ran into each other. You can’t mistake the lack of kinetic action as being “friendly.” We weren’t. The wars were being fought as proxy wars as each side tried to influence rather than invade.

As to being owned by the Muslim world, there is rarely any serious US firepower in the Middle East. We have turned our attention to the next threat, China. Except for a few people here and there we have fewer troops abroad since the 1920’s. The Muslim world is desperately seeking a new friend to protect them from each other; the Iranians, the Turks, and a host of powerful, well-funded non-state actors. That’s why they are trying to make a deal with Israel and THAT is the genesis of the present war with HAMAS.

Incidentally, it would appear that we are heading back to mercantilism and a new version of the imperial system. That’s what’s going on with all the sudden African revolts. Russia is in play against French and British influence so the Russians can deny African oil from Europe.

It’s a complicated chessboard. The perfect game for a president who can’t navigate stairs.

I don't.

I'm referring to an international crisis where the U.S. and the Soviet Union openly sided together. That's far more than just a "lack of kinetic action." It's a blatant repudiation of a trio of nations that included two NATO allies of the U.S.
