As a combat veteran, I will NEVER understand the phrase “Proportional response”. They kill one of ours, we kill one of theirs? What bullshit!!!!!

Totally agree.
“Proportional response” is an insult to intelligence.
Any response should be according to an objective eliminating the threat.
If attacked “conventionally”, the defender has the right to use all necessary means at its disposal, except for WMD’s.
I remember when “proportionate response” meant one had run out of targets.
