Joe Biden will drop out of 2024 presidential race, top JPMorgan strategist predicts

President Biden will not run for re-election during a tumultuous year that will see parts of the country suffer rolling blackouts, the release of an inhaled COVID vaccine and a boycott over driverless cars, a top JPMorgan Chase strategist predicted.

Michael Cembalest, who heads the market and investment strategy unit in the Wall Street bank’s asset management division, made the shocking forecasts in his list of ‘Ten Surprises’ for 2024 over the weekend.

Tops among the budding Nostradamus’ prophesies was that 81-year-old Biden will drop out of the race “sometime between Super Tuesday and the November election, citing health concerns.”

“Super Tuesday” refers to the March 5 presidential primaries and caucuses that will be held in more than a dozen states, including California, Texas, Massachusetts, Vermont and North Carolina.

The winner of the “Super Tuesday” contests is considered the heavy favorite to eventually capture the party’s nomination for president.

Cembalest issued his predictions in newsletter as a tribute to former JPMorgan market strategist Byron Wien, who had made 10 prognostications every year for nearly four decades before his death last year at age 90.

Also on Cembalest’s list was that Americans will reject self-driving electric vehicles following several accidents that have roiled San Francisco, and a warning that blackouts will strike New York, Texas, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Tennessee due to a natural gas shortage.

Did they ask Breyer to retire

Kinda, as in telling him he was going to retire.

“More accurately, Biden will not be permitted to run in 2024.”

I agree. However, this presents a new problem for the Dems. If they skip over Harris, there will be many wokesters who are butt by such a move. If they stick with Harris, they will have to cheat at absurd levels to make her win.

Even Dems don’t like Harris.

The only way Brandon doesn’t run is if he dies in office.

Obama can arrange that.

I generally don’t buy into these “crazy” predictions but I would not be surprised if this happens. He clearly isn’t healthy anyways so he can just say he’s stepping down for health reasons without too much fuss.

In 1952, Democrats nominated Adlai Stevenson as their Presidential candidate, against Dwight D. Eisenhower, and was soundly trounced, in a rebound election that was a popular revulsion against the Korean War, which was widely blamed on then-President Harry Truman, and most particularly on several members of Truman’s Cabinet. Greatly nonplused by this perfidy of the American public, Adlai Stevenson was offered up again in 1956 by the Democrats, only to be swamped once more.

Adlai Stevenson remarked at the time, “It hurts too much to laugh and I’m too big to cry.”

By ‘dropping out’ it will more than likely he’ll take a header off a campaign stage somewhere.

That won't even be a lie. Just a little short on details.

The problem is: how do they remove Harris from the picture? Can they blame that on Donald Trump? Or can they blame the Russians? Perhaps Harris had better stay away from windows on an upper floor.

The Democrat replacement team is waiting in the wings for the big reveal. It should be a great episode. The finale for the "Our Democracy"(tm) show will be the triumphant victory of the Unity Team over the villain Donald Trump and his nefarious MAGA supporters.

Next season they will have a new show - "The Thousand Year Reign of the Democrats". The trailers look very interesting. I believe I have read a similar book on which that series will be based.

Gavin Newsom will be the nominee.

He will be very hard to beat.

Democrats will never stay home or vote for Trump.

To win, Trump must get at least 60% of the white vote (58% in 2020) and at least 45% of the Independent vote (41% in 2020).

Hoping that ethnic groups or naturalized citizens will turn out in large numbers for Trump is not realistic.

No way will it be Newsom IMO. Never mind the same-state issue. We are over-impressed by Gavin with his slick hair and good looks. The rest of the country can’t stand California politicians, which is partly why Kamala couldn’t get over 1% of the primary vote. She wasn’t a terrible candidate in the primaries.

Even DeSantis made mincemeat out of Newsome. Mrs Obama will seize the moment. We make fun of her here, but she checks all the boxes, has no baggage and speaks well. Get ready for a rough ride folks. I still think Trump does fine if it’s a fair election.
