The plane they decided to stick these people on was already fully loaded as it was holiday time and so they kept the plane at the gate for two hours (this is a major expense) while they decided what to do. Their solution was to kick already seated, already late, passengers off the flight by force. This resulted in some really bad optics. But worse it showed that the airlines were staffed by morons.
Why do I bring this up? Because at the time reading this I decided that I would never fly this airline because they were staffed by nitwits. I could not trust that the people charged with the planes mechanical well being were any smarter or more capable.
I was told that I was being silly. After all plane mechanics were part of a UNION.
Having some experience with people who were part of the BrotherHOODS this cemented my decision to avoid airplanes.
I would like to know if and how Boeing’s hiring practices have changed over the past decade or two. And, I would like them to investigate whether this was sabotage.
The bolt torque issue is completely removed from the “plug” issue.
Reminds me of the old WWII flight log.
Pilot: Something loose in cockpit
Ground Crew: Something tightened in cockpit.
The lower part of the plug has two bolts capturing it over a spring loaded bar on the bottom of the frame.
Then the upper part has capture bars that are maneuvered into the channels by pushing the plug downward against the spring then up into the "C" channels when the plug is in place.
The bolts are then installed in the "C" channel underneath the capture bars to keep them from traveling back down the channel and releasing the plug.

If it’s Boeing Max 9, I’m BOLTING, and NOT going.
Like maybe ALL of the bolts on the so called “door plug” that replaced an optional emergency exit door in the frame. Photos of the missing “plug” show every part of the surround of the door neatly separated. Very fortunate no-one was seated next to that-— sucked out at 16K feet. Incompetence if this is the “door” plugs they describe. Deadly.
fairly small suspect pool...
Likely not Boeing’s fault, probably the airline. Boeing provides the door opening and the airline puts in the plug because they want to squeeze a few more seats in. They only need 50 seats per exit.
Called it.
Surprised the nuts were there at all.
The Alaska Air maintenance crew that failed to preserve the flight data recorder data needs to be fined and fired.
So I forgot to tighten the bolt.....nobody’s perfect bro. Anyone know how many LeBron dropped tonite?
