The Department of Justice (DOJ) warned Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) it will sue Texas if he enforces a new state law that allows for the prosecution and deportation of migrants entering the U.S. from Mexico, according to a letter obtained by The Hill.
Abbott signed the legislation earlier this month, citing the increased number of migrant encounters at the U.S. southern border.
The law, set to take effect March 5, allows any Texas law enforcement officer to arrest those suspected of illegal entry into the country. Once arrested, migrants must either agree to a judge’s order to leave the U.S. or face misdemeanor charges of illegal entry.

And we thought they had reached the nadir of absurdity when they put Tampax in the men’s restroom!
See you in court. Texas border closed due to imminent threat.
The DOJ is 180 degrees unconstitutional in its position here (see U.S. Constitution Article IV, Section 4).
GO TEXAS!!!!
What are the smarter ways other than sending as many as possible to the areas of the country that harbor the leaders who perpetuate the immigration crimes against this nation?
Bring it!
You realize the Guard has been on the border for years now? We’ve been supporting the Federal mission down there for a long time, and once Biden ended that Texas has had our own State-level mission down there. Currently around 5,000 of us are on Operation Lone Star.
Good luck with that. Governor Abbott will have their heads on a plate.
Why stop there? If they try to enforce border laws kill them.
Psychopaths with bad intent are in power.
Will this be before or after the sternly worded letter?
“the Supreme Court has also said that states may not in any way enforce Federal immigration law.”
It’s a state law, not federal.
Knew that was coming. The federal position is that if THEY don’t enforce a law, then no one else is allowed to either.
We all knew this was coming. We are heading towards succession. The last chance to avoid it is a fair-enough election next year, a Trump victory, and a peaceful transition of power.
Well wait just a minute. In Illinois, several communities are prosecuting and seizing bus drivers who bring migrants to town.
If Illinois communities can regulate entry at the city limits, so can Texas.
Countersue, and demand punitive damages.
Todays DOJ is a contradiction in terms.
Correct, I was pointing out to the other poster one of the reasons why Abbott had been unable to do anything significant until now. This one is a state law that goes into force on March 5.
Problem with autocorrect?
Pretty much what Abbott’s been doing.
1. Ship all the illegals that can be legally sent to the areas you reference.
2. Do NOT attempt to do things that have been litigated as being illegal, like attempting to enforce Federal immigration law at the state level.
3. Get a state law making illegal presence a state crime, which will allow state prosecution and sentencing. (Which takes at least two years per attempt in Texas as the Governor’s office is deliberately weak by law and the Legislature only meets for six months every other year.)
4. Continue to increase the difficulty of making passable fake state documents like IDs and temporary license plates.
5. Outlaw sanctuary city status at the state level.
6. Pass laws to allow Constitutional Carry and allow easier defense against criminally inclined ‘migrants’ by the citizens while the state works on more measures.
There’s more, but that’s just off the top of my head.
Doesn't the Texas law allow Texas to deport aliens? DOJ will sue for that. I hope we don't get a leftist judge and jury.
ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION REMIX (3 MINUTES)
I DID THIS ONE IN 2019 AS THE SITUATION THEN WAS AWFUL.
NOW? IF NOT HALTED & REVERSED, THE “AMERICA” IN WHICH WE OLDER FOLKS WERE RAISED IS OVER...FOREVER!
THANK YOU! I DO NOT MONETIZE MY VIDEOS. Please share as WE ARE NEARLY OUT OF TIME TO TURN THIS MESS AROUND!
