It should be obvious why Israel doesn’t want to treat them as a “state.”
I don’t know of any real “states” with whom one can coexist, whose government policy is taking, ransoming and killing hostages.

Once Israel kills Sinwar and Dief, the two heads of Hamas, they know they are done. You see Hamas terrorists surrendering left and right, Hamas knows they are done but they are holding on to the one thing they have left that gives them any sort of power and those are the hostages
