Leading Democrat claims Republicans refuse 'to accept the results of the Civil War' 'They're still mad a black man is free in this country'

A leading Democrat, the new mayor of Chicago, is claiming that Republicans in America still refuse "to accept the results of the Civil War."

It is Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson who recently unleashed a rant about "right-wing extremists."

They are the ones, he charged, that are responsible for the huge problems facing the Democrat-run city.

And specifically, "It's the same Republican right-wing extremism that stormed the Capitol, it's the same right-wing extremism that refuses to accept the results of the Civil War. It's raggedy. It's disrespectful. It's mean-spirited," he charged.

Actually, History.com reports the GOP was founded in 1854 as a coalition opposing the extension of slavery into Western territories, and it fought to protect the rights of African Americans after the 1861-1864 war when Democrats were continuing their battles to keep blacks as second-class residents, much less citizens, by means including the founding of the KKK.

He got his start as a social studies teacher in Chicago. Of course Chicago is home to a university campus with a building that has a plaque dedicated to ‘Abraham Lincoln, Democrat’.

If only the Republicans and the Yankees of 1861 could see into the future. I bet there would be a different attitude from the Northerners and one of Lincoln’s recommendations would have been pushed to the front.

NB Forrest ordered the KKK disbanded when the voting rights of the men that served the Confederacy was reinstated. The Klan had served its purpose protecting the former Confederates from the scalawags, carpetbaggers, and freed Negroes that preyed upon the former Confederates. The Klan’s resurgence after 1915 saw more KKK members from the Midwest than from the South. The marchers photographed at the Capital in the 1920’s were mainly from Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois.

Ironically it was the South that loved him and FDR. New England voted against them. Now it has totally flapped.

567,670 Northern troops DIED freeing the Blacks, STF up little man…..

Died invading and murdering other people who had done them no harm just to impose subjugation by the corrupt evil government of Washington DC.

They didn't care about slaves. See the Corwin Amendment. (To make slavery permanent.)

Corbin Amendment, interesting. Yep, the Civil War was not all about slaves, it was more about control and money. Seems our leaders used issues to achieve many goals throughout history.

It isn’t your black African skin that’s the problem, Brandon ...

It’s your Red Communist ideology.

The most cited figure is 618,222 men died in the Civil War, 360,222 from the North and 258,000 from the South. More recently, these figures have been challenged as being about 20% low. About a half million foreign born soldiers fought on the Union side.

These are deaths on the battlefield, not including deaths from disease.

I have come to realize they were playing the same sort of games back then that modern politicians are playing now.

"Global warming" and "renewable energy" come to mind.

All just excuses to extract money from the productive to make DC and the people connected to it rich.
