Nearly half of US companies intend to eliminate Bachelor's degree requirements for some job positions next year, a new survey has revealed.
And 55 percent said they'd already eliminated degree requirements this year, according to an Intelligent.com survey of 800 US employers, carried out in November.
It comes after Walmart, IBM, Accenture, Bank of America and Google announced similar plans.
The survey found that the same employers that have already eliminated Bachelor's degree requirements were far more likely to continue doing so.

Could be both.
The High School “diploma” today is equal to a 6th Grade “graduation” certificate a few decades back.
Companies are going to be hiring complete ignoramuses who cannot read, write or cipher (channeling Jethro).
I wonder why they are doing this. Hmmm...it’s a mystery.
My worthless associates degree lives!!!
Fixed.
Wise move. Today, a BA issued by most US universities means you’ve been indoctrinated for 4 years by the communist faculty.
Today’s BA grads are less educated than yesterday’s high school dropouts so why care about a diploma?
Been saying it for years...we need more apprentice programs and/or trade schools.
I’m thinking it’s to hire the people coming illegally over the border.
Many college graduates can barely read as well these days. What they should be doing is avoiding people under 40. LOL.
Too many kids coming out of college are utterly unprepared for the workplace. Worse the indoctrination baggage = employees who cause constant trouble over contrived nonsense. Who wants employees who come crying every time they hear something they don’t like?
We don’t need any steenkin employees with STEM degrees cause we got AI software.
Exactly. Those in “skilled trades” like electricians, plumbers, home-builders, etc. are doing very well. Our granddaughter is in “nursing school” which is a skilled trade/profession.
I guess corporations now have lawyers that have figured a way around Griggs vs Duke Power.

Why did it take so long?
A report published by the Burning Glass institute last year described the growing trend of cutting degrees as a requirement as 'an essential step in reducing inequity in the American labor market.'
Seems part of the motive is that blacks are less likely to have a college degree, so some companies are replacing B.A. requirements with how one contributes to a company's diversity.
While your take seems logical, I’m suspicious students are worse off after college these days. I graduated in the 70’s and it took me about 10 years to throw off the commie indoctrination.
45% Of US companies switch to McDonalds hiring plan if they are warm hire them.
Online resources like KhanAcademy.org can help train people in math skills much more quickly, more effectively, and less expensively than colleges anyway.
If a company wants some of its people to have degrees in certain applicable subjects, it can send them to night school (even online).
This is a great model that has been a long time coming.
