Bethlehem is just another dirt poor anti-Western city in the West Bank. I went there in December 2005, as an invite for my work in Jerusalem Consulate when they had a slot for guest on tour. There were 6 guests on the tour and 18-Blackwater Rental Infantry escorts. As we went from the Church to the Manger location, Palestians with AK-47s hopped from rooftop to rooftop as we went down the street. When we ate at a restaurant, they popped their bolts from rooftops across the street. It was pretty cool with 18 guys performing basically an infantry operation protecting us as we moved throughout the town. These people are like children, their thinking processes are not like Western people - they have been raised in a 6th century religion, and most are emotionally children even when they are adults.
As an aside, I got to Jump with Egyptian Paratroopers once, and they were untrainable, unsafe and like children too. No wonder the Arabs do not do well in facing Western military’s. Before the Jump, we had make sure they didn’t get their static lines under their arms and things like that, it was the worst Jump I’ve ever been on - if they had been American’s they would have had their chutes taken and they would have been belted into their seat for a return to the airbase with the plane.
