The gap has widened in Florida between the two Florida residents vying for the Republican nomination over the past few months. Trump now has 61 percent in the GOP race in Florida, amounting to a 41-point lead over DeSantis, who comes in a distant second with 20 percent support.
That 41-point gap is a positive trend in Trump’s direction. The former president’s support has grown by 11 points since July, but DeSantis’s has fallen ten points in that same time frame. In July, 20 points separated the two, but that spread has more than doubled as the primary race has continued on.
Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley comes in third place with nine percent support, reflecting an eight-point positive shift since July. Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has one percent support, and Vivek Ramaswamy now has zero percent support, down from four percent in July.
The survey still shows Trump dominating DeSantis with majority support in a head-to-head matchup, leading 63 percent to the governor’s 30 percent. Again, that reflects a nine-point increase for Trump since July and a seven point loss for DeSantis over the same time frame.

Further the survey found 58 percent of black respondents, 74 percent of Hispanic respondents, and 57 percent of white respondents also choosing Trump as their candidate of choice in the GOP primary.

This is far from the only survey examining the race in Florida showing Trump trouncing DeSantis. A recent University of North Florida survey showed Trump leading with 60 percent support and DeSantis falling 39 points behind with 21 percent support in his home state.

Biden will not be running so I think DeSantis and Newsome will be the chosen nominees all of the MAGA people will then coalesce behind DeSantis as he wipes Haley out in the primaries.

DeSantis is the great anti woke warrior because those issues generally have a consensus in the party.(These are safe issues for him)
Where DeSantis is being coy, like he acted while running his shadow campaign before he announced, is in areas where conservatives are divided.(Foreign policy, finance, trade, military intervention, federal budget, etc)
He’s trying to “thread a needle” while running around on a tight rope with ear plugs & a blindfold on.
His chances of success during the ‘2024 rodeo’ are very slim.

Colton Moore, a 30-year-old from rural Dade County, Georgia, enjoys rare bragging rights for a freshman state senator. Donald Trump recently singled him out by name as a man of “courage and conviction.”
A few months ago, Moore demanded that his fellow lawmakers call a special session to consider firing or defunding Fani Willis, the Atlanta-area district attorney leading a criminal racketeering case against Trump and his allies. His move mirrored House of Rep efforts to investigate or strip funding from Jack Smith, the special counsel leading the federal prosecutions of Trump.
But in Georgia, it got Moore booted out of the Senate Republican caucus. Moore’s excommunication demonstrates that there are limits to Georgia Republicans’ tolerance for high jinks that would derail the Willis case against the president.
And it has become evident that members of the Republican establishment, led by Gov. Brian Kemp, are shielding Willis not because they share any ideological affinity with her, but because they are concerned that removing her would damage Georgia’s reputation, and its ability to attract and retain businesses.
“They know that if they went after her, there would be national press berating them as being a bunch of far-right nuts,” said Roy Barnes, the moderate Democrat who served as governor from 1999 to 2003. “And that’s the last thing they want to do. They want to say, ‘Listen we can run this state, we can take stands that keep us prosperous.’”
Kemp has publicly chastised those who would try to remove Willis, calling such efforts “political theater that only inflames the emotions of the moment.”
His office did not respond to a request for comment for this article. But other hints have emerged that GOP leaders are intent on derailing any serious threats to Willis’ position.
