US House votes to pause impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas

WASHINGTON, Nov 13 (Reuters) - The U.S. House of Representatives voted on Monday to pause the effort to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, halting a Republican campaign that alleges he has been derelict in his duty of in managing the U.S.-Mexico border.

The articles of impeachment, introduced by Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene on Thursday, contend that Mayorkas, an appointee of Democratic President Joe Biden, violated his oath of office by failing to constrain the record numbers of migrants arriving at the border.

The House voted to refer the articles back to the House Homeland Security Committee, which is carrying out its own investigation of Mayorkas's alleged dereliction of duty.

The move comes as Congress has less than five days to extend funding or send the U.S. into its fourth partial government shutdown in a decade.

The impeachment comes after months of threats from Republicans, who blame Biden's administration for rolling back harsh restrictions on accepting migrants and asylum seekers put in place under then-President Donald Trump, a Republican.

If the Republican-controlled House impeaches Mayorkas, he will almost definitely be found innocent after a trial in the Senate, which Democrats control by a slim margin.

In response to the initial impeachment motion, a U.S. Department of Homeland Security spokesperson said lawmakers should stop "their reckless impeachment charades and attacks on law enforcement" and instead "deliver desperately needed reforms for our broken immigration system."

Quit using that. The 2020 Presidential race was stolen. As for these peckerwoods, they aren’t worth my vote. Nobody would have to steal to beat these pantywaists.

Yep, one more time voting for trump for me to try and get my stolen vote back and I’m done.

If I happen to gy by the polling place after that and notice it’s going on, I’ll go in and vote for every Libertarian on the ballot for shits and giggles.

“What’s Allepo” seems better than this RNC/GOP backstabbing crap at this point

“Actually the votes are lacking. It is required to win elections, not pretend they are (always) stolen. Sometimes they are just lost.”

You are correct. Many conservatives are struggling with the rapidly changing political landscape. Conservatives are not the majority anymore.

If the government refuses to protect the country or citizens as they were sworn to do then what do we need them for?

He shouldn’t be tried and punished for Dereliction of Duty.

It isn’t that at all. I would feel better and be less angry if it were incompetence, which Dereliction of Duty implies.

It isn’t.

It is lawless disregard, and outright Treason. He should have been tried and punished to the full extent of the law.

But he won’t be. They are all in on it.

If the Republican-controlled House impeaches Mayorkas

How many Republican members of Congress are going to vote for that? Ten?

The core belief of the "donor community", which sends all 435 Members to Congress, is open borders.

There is no serious GOP opposition to open borders, and the idea that there is a "Republican controlled House", much less that they are going to impeach anybody, ESPECIALLY Mayorkas, is just a sad delusion.

They (Uni-Party RINOs) just don’t have the nerve.

Why do you call them Republicans "in name only"? They all vote for the core beliefs of the GOP. Those core beliefs ae:

1) Open borders
2) A global open market in labor
3) Offshoring productive industries
4) Financialization of the economy
5)) Severing the medium of exchange function of money from the store of value function.
6) Usury as the main engine of consumption.
7) Denying the people their natural, healthy love of their nation
8) Overseas wars on behalf of alien peoples without recompense for our sacrifice.
9) Forced "diversity" with its attendent decline in standards and inevitably accompanying violence.

If you don't believe in those things and call yourself a "Republican", it's YOU that is a Republican IN NAME ONLY.

“The votes are lacking because Repubs won’t vote for ti if it will actually pass.”

The votes aren’t there because GOP Reps from purple districts know pursuing it without slam-dunk evidence is political suicide. Ant Rep not in a safe, deep red, MAGA district is going to think twice about tilting at windmills.
The GOP majority in the HOR is hanging by a thin thread. Another self-destructive dog and pony show, like choosing the last Speaker, will be the kiss of death for Reps from purple districts.

Congress only passes laws (a lot of them bad). They could care less about enforcement. Disgusting creatures. Snakes in the grass.

“Conservatives are not the majority anymore.”

Ignorance is bliss. Biden got 81 millions votes and their was no massive voter fraud. You have no idea if conservatives are not in the majority (just spouting nonsense) until we have free and fair elections. LOL
