Without warning, hundreds of noncommissioned officers were ordered via email to report to the recruiting school at Fort Knox, Kentucky, in less than a week, with hundreds more set to start at the school in December -- a sudden unexpected move by the Army as the service scrambles to boost its recruiting force by 800 by the end of the year.
The orders came after a breakdown in how the Army tracks how many recruiters it has coming through the pipeline along with retention of existing ones, according to Lt. Gen. Douglas Stitt, the Army's top personnel officer. The sudden depletion of recruiters caught Army planners flat-footed, with officials unable to provide a clear explanation as to what went wrong. Now, NCOs will likely have to move during the holiday season and in the middle of the school year, sowing chaos for families.
"Given the six-day heads up, we have zero time to plan child care," one noncommissioned officer told Military.com on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media. "We can barely find and afford child care during the week as it is, so now my wife may end up having to quit her job entirely because it is impossible to find on the weekend."
The Army has roughly 10,000 recruiters, but that force has been bleeding troops over the past year. The 800 emergency recruiting students will allow the service to maintain its numbers. Recruiters have reported to Military.com in recent months of working longer hours and, in some cases, getting fired for missing quotas.

I’d like to think it is the incompetence of Recruiting Command, but I am beginning to suspect you are correct. But I’ve thought the army is too big and too stupid to plan/execute/hide a conspiracy like that...
Army families are strongly promoted by the Army. They know it helps lock servicemen and servicewomen into the force.
This is typical Army stepping on-its-d*ck. Too many losers in senior leadership to figure any of this out.
I have heard that the military is inviting the unjabbed back and they are not returning - no trust.

Personally, young cousin just graduated HS in the spring & was seriously considering the military, even met with a recruiter (his dad went with him). “We”, including his grandpa, an Air Force vet, talked him out of enlisting. He’s a good kid, not woke at all & a Christian, plus with a CIC (& top brass IMO) that could give a rat’s rear end about the personal welfare of the troops, & the current lack of a moral, even common sense environment, the military now is not the place for him.

The Army has 482,416 soldiers. That’s 48 soldiers per recruiter.
I know corporations with 100,000 employees who do not have 2,500 recruiters that the Army would have.

We are screwed if we must go up against multiple peer group military forces That would be Russia or China for sure. Possibly even Turkey.
The technology has changed, and we have gotten complacent, allowing our edges to slip. In particular, we do not have sound doctrines to deal with anti-ship missiles or modern air defense systems, or artillery supported by drone attack craft. Our adversaries have better technology and more experience with many of these areas.
Against any single opponent we can most likely prevail. We are not prepared to deal with the massive casualties that will occur, not do we have the industrial capacity to sustain a full-scale war for any length of time.
Against multiple theatre attacks, we would simply need to pick the ones we will lose and which one we will press for a victory. Hard choices.
We are not prepared to deal with a wave of terrorist attacks within our own country, which can disable most of our key infrastructure within a few weeks. We have allowed too many hostile immigrants to cross our non-existent borders.
We have incompetent generals and politicians who impose rules of engagement that guarantee failure. Who wants to sign up for a deal like that?
All of those problems can be fixed but not by new recruiting efforts nor by a draft.
A large number of people must lose their phony baloney jobs and be gone from the picture.
I was drafted on November 22, 1965 in Philadelphia. There were 110 of us, we were told they needed volunteers for the Marines. If non, 10% of us would go to the Marines. Well, they ones acting up all morning, were sent over.
With today’s youth, there will be NO DRAFT. They would burn the place down. No respect for anyone.
