Without warning, hundreds of noncommissioned officers were ordered via email to report to the recruiting school at Fort Knox, Kentucky, in less than a week, with hundreds more set to start at the school in December -- a sudden unexpected move by the Army as the service scrambles to boost its recruiting force by 800 by the end of the year.
The orders came after a breakdown in how the Army tracks how many recruiters it has coming through the pipeline along with retention of existing ones, according to Lt. Gen. Douglas Stitt, the Army's top personnel officer. The sudden depletion of recruiters caught Army planners flat-footed, with officials unable to provide a clear explanation as to what went wrong. Now, NCOs will likely have to move during the holiday season and in the middle of the school year, sowing chaos for families.
"Given the six-day heads up, we have zero time to plan child care," one noncommissioned officer told Military.com on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media. "We can barely find and afford child care during the week as it is, so now my wife may end up having to quit her job entirely because it is impossible to find on the weekend."
The Army has roughly 10,000 recruiters, but that force has been bleeding troops over the past year. The 800 emergency recruiting students will allow the service to maintain its numbers. Recruiters have reported to Military.com in recent months of working longer hours and, in some cases, getting fired for missing quotas.

First, I would think being a military recruiter would be a cushy job.
Second, You are in the military and complaining about getting orders on short notice. That is what the military does. You would think by now they would have known this. Or were they in cushy do nothing positions riding out their enlistment.
Never say never.
And they’ll be plenty of Karens who will volunteer going around asking everyone to show their Registration Cards, like in WWI.
I would never tell my children its a good thing to join the military. And I am quite sure America could never raise a large army. America lost its moral authority. Our government does not value our lives or the constitution. So I certainly would not fight for my country. I will defend my home. Or I will leave the country. But I would never fight for this government. Its not a valid government and it does not protect our rights.
The military does not yet get that the people have to believe in the government before they will fight for the government. Our military sees there is something wrong with recruiting. They just don’t quite understand what the problem is.

The Obamacrats have made serving our country a miserable prospect for decent, genuine Americans.
What patriotic 18-year old heterosexual male would want to join the woke, pronoun obsessed, LGBTQ US Army today?
I get fired for missing my quota because no body wants to be in the military much anymore, especially those who have personal standards as outlined in the Bible, I.E., homosexuals. Even tho they may not be Christians, they have been taught what is right and wrong. Those type folks don’t want to be told how they must accept certain lifestyles. I am danged glad I had retired before all this crap came out. I don’t think I could have continued under these current standards, rules, and acceptances.
Yeah. Back when I was on AD, not many wanted to be on recruiting duty or drill sergeants. It took you away from family for way too many hours. Ruined many a marriage.
Both as an infantryman (11B) and a court stenographer (71E), I was asked a number of times to volunteer to become a recruiter. Luckily, I avoided it for my 21 years.
If you're lucky enough to meet your quota, it can be an enhancement in your military resume. However, if you don't, it's a career-ender. I wasn't willing to roll that type of dice with my life ...
No white, straight, young man in his right mind wants to serve in the Democrat run military today.
Yes, they have to obey it. But they won’t like it, and they will get out just as soon as they can. Hence the catastrophic drop in retention, along with abysmal recruiting. Uprooting families in the middle of the holidays/schoolyear because of mismanagement is not the way to foster loyalty and commitment.
In the military, certain specialties and training paint a bullseye on your back for every crappy tasking that may come down the pipeline. For some it was a language proficiency. For some it was having Bus on their military driver's license. Security Forces augmentee was one. Equipment management certification was another. Augmentee munitions assembler was a bad one.
Any time headquarters determined they needed someone who was already trained, they could cut orders to have you uprooted and sent anywhere to fill in.
I know several individuals who separated from the service because they had gotten such stink on them and knew it would hang over their heads for their entire careers.
Army headquarters just cashed in a big chip. Yes, they'll get their augmentee recruiters today but going forward, a lot of individuals who would previously served a tour as a recruiter will now avoid it because of the stink that could impact them for the rest of their careers. A lot of commanders don't want to take people with a certain stink because they can lose them on a moment's notice and they won't be back-filled since it will likely be a special duty temporary assignment, not a permanent change of station.
On a related note, I wonder how many of these involuntary recruiters were selected for proficiency in foreign languages, especially Spanish, in order to fill the ranks with recently arrived invaders.
China has no need to make any moves. They already own Jao Bai-din as well as most of Congress.
I think prior to the 1980s...it was ‘cush’.
You have an assigned ‘number’ and your evaluations (getting promoted) are geared to making that number. Based on what I’ve read...no one is making their numbers...so this is driving the new strategy.

Self-inflicted.
From link (at bottom):
From late 2021 to early 2023, the military services discharged roughly 8,300 troops from the active and reserve components, most of whom received general discharges and were welcome to serve in uniform again if they got vaccinated.
The Army discharged 1,881 soldiers before Jan. 10, according to service data, while granting 191 exemptions out of 10,699 requests.
The Air Force Department discharged a total of 834 personnel in 2022, before a July court order halted any further separations for those whose waivers had been rejected, according to data provided to Military Times.
In the end, the Navy granted 168 medical exemptions, 153 of them temporary, as well as 50 religious accommodations. Data as of Jan. 9, the day before the mandate repeal, show 1,878 sailors were discharged.
In total, the service involuntarily separated 3,746 Marines before the mandate’s repeal.

The blames resides with LtGen Still, along with US Army's Commanding General of Recruiting....Maj Gen Johnny Davis. Johnny didn't do his homework, and Doug didn't ensure Johnny completed and turned in his homework.
They just don’t quite understand what the problem is.

This nation has lost its values and traditions. During the strike, a union leader stated that “the illusion of self sufficiency, upward mobility and rugged individualism is over.”
