Turkey's president appears to have threatened to intervene in Gaza in an impassioned speech at a pro-Palestine rally this evening.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan delivered a speech to a rally this afternoon in which he told attendees Israel was responsible for war crimes, and framed Hamas as "freedom fighters".
In comments that have prompted Israeli outcry, and led the country to withdraw its diplomatic presence, president Erdogan suggested assaults on Gaza constituted a "massacre".
In the same speech, he reportedly said that Turkey can "come at any night unexpectedly” to ecstatic reception from hundreds of thousands of attendees.
The footage, which was shown on X, formerly known as Twitter, said the pro-Palestine crowd responded with the chant: “Turkish military to Gaza.”

Everyone minus half the people.
The sad thing is that was one of Trump’s greatest accomplishments and it seems long forgotten.
He brought Turkey to heel like no other POTUS employing financial warfare.
We’re $33,000,000,000 in debt and the USD is still the unquestionable world standard bearer. Those days have been coming for 45yrs. The euro and now bitcoins, meanwhile if one wants access to first world banks it’s either obey or hammerlock.
Turkey has a formidable army, but there’s no way Syria allows Turkish armor/infantry rolling hundreds of miles through their territory, especially with Russia currently unable to help them. Turk air and naval forces would be of limited effect, and naval forces in particular would be high risk. That’s not to say Turkey doesn’t have some capability to hurt Israel, and they could obviously supply significant capabilities to Hamas.
But attacks on Israel would quickly result in the withdrawal of the F-16 package Turkey likely received for admitting Sweden to NATO (still pending vote), and significant sanctions by the west. Erdogan will probably offer “restraint” for more western weapons and aid, while stirring anti-Israel fervor.
Yup.
The horrors of the world wars, revolutions, civil wars, exterminations, and the Holocaust began with one assassination. World war three may be the result of Biden limiting American oil production, exploration, and distribution. The increase in the price of energy has enriched the bad guys, who are using their new found wealth to conduct and support wars that could spread world wide. This time the prospective combatants have nukes.
Even if Trump wins, the damage that could be done over the next 1.5 years could be so damaging that Trump will have negligible effect in just 4 years.
If a Democrat wins in 2024, it’s going to be really bad.
If a Republican wins, it will still be bad, but if it’s Trump for 4 years, then we need a string of Republicans because we are so deep in the hole it’s going to take years to get out of it.
Correct. Except ya missed a few zeros. We're $33,000,000,000,000 in debt.
That nitpick aside, point well made.
(Ezekiel 38 war?
Turkey, Iran, Russia are the principal belligerents that invade Israel.)
I agree - keep an eye on Libya

Wish Free Republic had a "like" button. Guess will just have to respond with a comment: WELL SAID.
Should have kicked them out when they invaded Cyprus.
How far. I wonder, can the Pakis effectively deliver their nukes?
And he offered to take in how many Gaza refugees?
We had those Jupiter missiles. Not sure if they were all nuke tipped.
Artucle V was invoked on 9/15/01. NATO members sent forces to A’stan which to active part in hostilities.
NATO, as useful as a pinhole in a condom.
Biden has sent the world into a tailspin.
Send the Palestinians to Turkey.
No surprise. Muzzles are all the same
NATO maybe Turkey ain’t
I think their primary concern is India. From what I read they don’t have a missile that could hit Israel from Pakistan. They have a wide variety of bombs and battlefield nukes they could make available to Turkey though.
Very happy news for neocons.
With what? More borrowed money? We are more bankrupt than all G20 countries. Why do you want more burdens on our children and grand children? $33 TRILLION is not enough debt for you?
