President Biden said Wednesday that the US military is willing to fight nuclear-armed China on behalf of the Philippines after ships from the two Asian countries collided near a disputed, unpopulated island in the South China Sea.
“The United States defense agreement with the Philippines is ironclad. Any attack on the Filipino aircraft, vessels or armed forces will invoke our mutual defense treaty with the Philippines,” Biden said during a joint press conference at the White House alongside Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
On Sunday, two of Manila’s military ships collided with a Chinese vessel that sought to block them from reaching the disputed Second Thomas Shoal, which is strategically located along important commercial shipping routes but also submerged at high tide.

True. Where are those pantywaist psychologists and psychiatrists who made a remote diagnosis without ever talking to Trump and marched in a protest to have him removed for psychiatric problems.
Psychologists Call for Trump’s Removal

Oct 15, 2017 — The march was organized by The Duty to Warn PAC, a group of psychologists that believes Trump has a malignant narcissism, according to Newsweek.
I want these shrinks found.
I highly doubt he can remember back that far.
He doesn’t give a damn. Asian countries have to unite against China and not rely upon the US.
Had more than my share of San Miguel in Olangopo City myself
“And we are doing what in establishing our blue water navy so our mouths don’t write checks that our asses can’t cash?”
Not to worry !
The Navy is going to use AI to solve its maintenance backlog.

Has Biden ever met a war he didn’t like -— except for Israelis defending themselves from Hamas attacks, of course.
“But then some here want to pretend reality doesn’t matter anymore.”
The people who are pretending are the NeoCons who think the US still has the military capability to fulfil its treaty commitments.
War across the Pacific against China is a joke with basically zero civilian shipyard capacity and the Navy shipyards years behind.

Brave Joe will do nothing but keep taking payoffs from china.
Biden simply needs a war for any possibility of looking strong and taking other issues off of the front page.
That’s how most presidents play the game.
...then where will be get our car parts Joe?
I spent time at Clark. They are using it as an international airport now.
NO. Send Hunter & the NeoCons. Not us.
> He’s likely to show what a swaggering macho bigshot he is by going to war. <
That’s a real possibility. Bill Clinton once said that his biggest regret was that he was not a war president. All the great presidents (Washington, Lincoln, FDR) ran wars, and Clinton regretted that he wasn’t able to join that group.
Clinton did get involved in the bombing of Kosovo. But I guess Kosovo wasn’t a big enough war for him.
Anyway, only one recent president didn’t aspire to be a great “war president”. And that was of course Donald Trump.
Speak for yourself Joe Burden.
I knew you had a skeleton or two rattling around in your closet somewhere.

At one time the United States had a huge merchant marine fleet. Regulations killed it. Maybe those regulations were needed. Regardless, our current merchant marine is just a shadow of its former self.
So how will we move the goods necessary for a new Pacific war? I guess we’ll have to lease what foreign freighters we can find.
They actually have.

Cool. I’m more a Tanduay man. My lady friends are teaching me Visayan. Too many Chinese in Pampanga for my taste.
The closest he came was the "Black Hawk Down" and he F'ed that up.
The nation lost some dedicated patriots in the line of duty: of course, Clinton blamed it on Secretary of Defense Les Aspin.
Who is going to lease freightors for wartime convoy duty ?
Maybe the USA can buy them.
In the Battle of the Atlantic, the Allies had 3500 merchant ships sunk. The scale of a Pacific War against China would be larger, and over longer ocean distances.
